Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:
1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund
2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

Well if its 1 limited to each person then should be same for group buys.

Sorry I meant that retailers would have to make exceptions for group buys. Of course you would hope that the leaders of the group buys would limit it just like the retailer.

So this is supposed to be limited to 1 per customer. I can't see that happening, I think they would have already put the restriction on the listing before.

1 per order I think not customer

That will explain the in/out of stock recently. They've been gradually going through the orders cutting each multi order to 1, thus the stock has been rising.

But the stock thats coming back in is going really fast too, means that people are still ordering more than 1 copy, same problem again

They sold 1000's yesterday so I don't see what the problem was

Ooooh, this is going to be funny, if its 1 per customer the 'bayers will be in the sh!t, especially those who've sold a truckload already.

If its true, hahahahahahahahahahah (while pointing), but its harsh at the same time because although I dont condone it, its essentially done throughout every business model in the last 25 years, supply and demand dictates the price and profits. And with the way banks and business run these days, i say dont hate the player, hate the game

Oh yeah, my whole point of messaging was, whats the delivery time like on pre-orders with SuperSaver delivery and 1st class delivery like?

That's what I was thinking when I read that. i don't have any sympathy for the guys buying 20-30+ to sell they just make it unnecessarily complicated for people who actually want them. Amazon post worldwide don't they?

Its takes the resellers to make the steelbook (not just this one) more desirable, without them its easily obtainable, holds no significance and sits on the shelf with a lot of disinterested collectors. example: every PLAY.com steelbook that hasnt sold out. Let the resellers wreck havoc, they help with desirability.

The problem there though is that resellers artificially inflate the perceived value of a steelbook by cleaning out stock. Everyone thinks an item is rare because scalpers pillage retail inventory, but then it just sits on ebay for months as it turns out it's not rare at all. Personally, I would rather the stock stay with retailers than resellers because at least then we get a clearer picture of just how rare or desirable a release is without resellers muddying the waters.

Wrong answer. "we get a clearer picture of just how rare or desirable a release is without resellers" Do you want it? Have you ordered it? Yes - then its desirable. No - it is not desirable. Money isnt the issue, you only think it is because of the artificial commercial world.

But you just said "it takes resellers to make a steelbook more desirable". So how does that sit with the above comment?

For me, a steelbook is either desirable or not from the get-go, and if it goes OOP quickly/has a low print run then it becomes somewhat more desirable. The fact that ebay scalpers plunder the stock of a title like Skyfall and then try to artificially load up the value has zero impact on its desirability for me personally.
