HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:
1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund
2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

Glad I took a punt on this, wasn't sure when they changed the placeholder art which I initially preferred, this looks great in person.

Just heard back from Amazon. They are sorry about the spine slash but cannot send a replacement. So they offered me to keep the steel or send it back for a replacement.

Thought this spine slashing was a thing of the past. Twice in a week now.

I've just got off the phone with amazon and was told a replacement would be issued later this week when more stock arrives.

Did they give you any money back as yours was damaged and because they can't offer a replacement?

I'm speaking to Amazon now and mentioned this.

Stuart:I have checked and the comment you mentioned is incorrect. There is no word when we are getting any more steelbooks in as we await info from the manufacturer. We would not wait a week to replace an item and the person, if this advice was given to them, has been wrongly advised as this will not happen.

Yes I must admit I've never known Amazon to do that. Their response to returned items is usually based on stock levels at that particular time. I've never known them to speculatively offer replacements.
 
Here's a copy of the email sent after the phone convosation. If they aim going to replace it then ill take the partial refund, now how do I tell my US friend his copy is damaged.
