Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:
1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund
2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

he's talking bout when they were £11.99 earlier today. at that price a few extras would be tempting.

Yeah buy three at £36 or one at £15 - great thinking! What a savi....oh :hilarious:

A steel that probably has a big print run, ships worldwide and is also released worldwide, id imagine wont be a great trading chip......but each to their own of course!

Yes, it's a real nice surprise that it seems to have the kind of 'continued art' slip that you often see with Asian releases. I can't think of many UK releases that have been done like that, and it makes it much more attractive than the plain monochrome job we usually get.

Can anyone tell me if this will be a very limited production run? Do we know how many units are being produced? Is there a way we can track their inventory on their steels?

While I don't know for certain, I'm fairly sure this is not a very limited run. On a big movie like this it's likely to be 4k minimum and maybe even twice that.

The only way to track inventory that I know of is the usual method of entering a figure of 999 into your shopping cart, when it adjusts the figure according to available stock. On that basis there at least 999 of these still available as of now. I don't see it selling out anytime soon.

I'm sure Andy said the main reason why HMV got big studio exclusives these days is due to their willingness to take a massive print run. So I wouldn't worry.

Indeed. One other thing to take into account also is that steelbooks at HMV often went out of stock on their website because a lot of the stock had been distributed to stores. This won't be the case with Amazon so any they get are likely to be around for a good while.
