Hope I have this in the right place. I'd like to get some hard cases for my more valuable steels. They seem hard to get. A seller on Ebay Germany is selling them, but won't ship to Canada. but was unable to get any. Can anyone help?:(

OK, but what is the point in protecting the spine ?

IMO, this part of a Steelbook never suffer any damage on a shelf, and having it free allows easier/faster handlings.

Your right in that, but what if you have more rows of Steels behind each other on a shelf, as I do ... wouldn't something like this new sleeves come in handy.
And if I look at the pictures, you can put a sealed Steelbook in it, or maybe even one
with a J card, or something like that. Because that one German sleeve that I have, only fits Steelbooks without those Cards. But I must admit .. they are handy in use.

I'm just looking for the right solution for the poly-bays that I'm using now.
I'm not complaining about those bags, but I'm searching for something more appealing.
Although that would not be my first concern. I not a movie watcher any more (long story),
but due to the circumstances more a collector instead. So keeping the Steels as undamaged as
possible is my first concern.

YEs i do assume that if you have 2 rows on one shelve that something like this (complete protection) could be of interest to you , I agree fully there.

I myself just get really mad with trying to fumble with those Steel Shells which are from someone in Germany. It looks easy in the video , it might even be so IF you do a large amount of them but for me its just too much work.

I as a collector prefer to open and close my steelbooks as often as I like, and I do this proberbly every 3-4 weeks just to remind me of all those really nice inside artworks :) There fore a simple easy solution like just slipping them over works for me .

As for the ones where you can close on all sides except the spine, I once again find the German ones totally not appropriate , im not sure about the ones from Bidou as of yet because I have not had any in my hands, this will of course be changing the next day or so.

For the ones closed on all sides - would it not be easier to have them fixed closed from production line and then just have the top (which is not as long as the side) of a steelbook just "flap over" ?

Anyway I do appreciate ALL of the people who have produced sleeves for Steelbooks as this is definitely better then the bags IMO.

Take care
John

That is even a better solution. No folding, or whatever. Just insert the Steel, and close
the upper flap.

The slipcases could not be flattened if they are factory fixed closed on all sides except for one, could they ?

Do you suggest a slipcase similar to the one provided with Moulin Rouge or Romeo & Juliet, with a tab closure on the top ?

To be honest its horses for courses as we say I have recently started buying the three sided plastic sleeves and yes they are a pain to fold correctly to get the edges as defined as they should be but once installed around your steelbook they slip in and out very easily I think a four sided deal would be alot of hassle to remove and replace your steels and also as pointed out if shipped ready assembled its gonna pose some postal charge problems.... its all swings and roundabouts really...

There you are right my friend I did not stop to take the time to think about that ..

Since those are some of the ones I DID NOT open I don't know how the sleeve is for that...

First time I am seeing these. These were sent to my by a friend in Korea and I think these are the best Plastic Slipcovers out there. Unlike the plastic slipcovers with an opening on the top or the spine, these slipcovers protect all the sides! Has anyone else seen these anywhere?

These look fantastic!

I'll email Choi and see if he's able to source them for us. I'll update again on here once he responds to my email.

That would be great.

Although I ordered 200 more Poly-bags today ... I have ears to other alternatives. With all due respect, not those Slipcase models (top and bottom are free), but models such as the above and with just one site free.

This is what Choi had to say. Lets see what Kimchi DVD provide us with.

This is very popular hard plastixlc sleeve All of collectos used in Korea

I have couples of those to protect my steelbook

It's not off the shelf product, custom made by one member in korean blu ray community

Price is around 0.8 or 0.9$ but It's very vary depends on how many do you buy

KIMCHIDVD just ordered similar hard sleeves to give away to.customer who has pre-orders

I will ask kimchi to sell those of hard plastic sleeves

Personally I got rid of my polybags because I think they look ugly on the shelf, and when you want to watch the film inside, the bag tends to stick to the steelbook (I found) so I've moved onto the 3/4 sleeves, much more appealing when on the shelf and keeps them protected. Must admit I'm not the most OCD of collectors but I do appreciate good protection :)

@ Rajlondon

Thank you for all the effort that you make, I really appreciate it

@ D4vem88

I hear you, an you are right about that.
But they are cheap, and protect the whole Steel.

A few weeks back I got the French G.I Joe. And the seller had a German 3/4
Sleeve around the Steelbook. I must say; it really looks good (and fits good) Much better then the Poly's. The only thing is; they don't protect all sites as a Poly does.
But is that necessary ? If you don't watch movies like me (long story), a nice solution such as that Korean one would be great, and if you have multiple lines of steel behind each other, then also the spine of the steel is save. But never the less; the 3/4 Sleeve is also a nice and great solution, but I like the Korean somewhat better ;)

Might be wrong section to put this but an someone please tell me what are those cardboard letter envelopes called that entertainment store send their steelbooks in? I want to order a few of them but i cant find it on amazon or ebay.

I bought 100 of the dvd poly bags from shop4tech and i cant get half of my steels in them, they keep splitting at the spine. I keep my steels sealed so slips and all, is there a better bag that a sealed steelbook fits into? Dont want my celophane getting torn/ripped

Hey Bud,

I just discovered poly bags that are perfect for steelbooks.

These are great for steelbooks without slips.

These on the other hand should fit steelbooks with slips.
The dimensions should be sufficient for bulkier steelbooks. Anyways, I'll be able to confirm once these arrive.

Update: Do not buy they are too big.

No mate, these are cardboard envelopes but have an extra long side which wrapes itself around the item once fully. There is a tight slot inside, which snugly fits the steelbook...i thought someone would be aware of them if they have bought from Entertainment Store before.

I understand what you mean, even if I have never bought anything from Entertainment Store so far :)
Sorry mate, but I don't know where to find these envelopes... :(
