I definitely liked the concept of the movie but I felt it dragged on a little at times. Also somewhat far fetched but it made for an entertaining ride. None of the acting performances are worth noting in my opinion. Is it something with replay value? A little I guess. I don't feel like watching it again any time soon but I'll still pick up one of these.

I just watched it last night, and this sums up my feelings about it exactly. I love the look of the steelbook, so I'm going to try to get one still.

I think my previous post got buried... What are the dimensions of the Type A? Is that the steelbook inset into an oversized case on the right? If so the discs look out of proportion.

I like the look & the art book, but not sure if I want an oversized that I'll have to shelve in the back room for this release.

I think if you look closely at the photo, the steelbook is inset in the box, with an inch (or maybe two?) around each side. Looks to me like it'll be slightly oversized.

Personally, I don't care about that. It's the most appealing type to me...it's what I'm going to TRY and get :)

Those are just renderings, not the actual product and yes they do look disproportionate (the discs) but keep in mind the boxset will be big enough to house the steelbook and the other goodies so if you don't have the right space for it, might as well go for either the lenti or full slip or both.

Both full slip and lenti have the same goodies as the boxset except the blueprint and the big book (thanks axldelarge).

Thanks for the opinions! (you too Jondog21 :p) Since joining this site I have done a lot of blind buys for movies I've never seen. The Pianist and Melancholia for example, still waiting for Melancholia to arrive but I enjoyed the Pianist a lot. So far everything has worked out via blind buys

it's ok mate ;)

By the way I'm not particularly in love with the full slip art...
I don't know but I wondered of a different approach (similar to the steelbook art) like a plastic case with a semitransparent texture of snow and cracked ice with UV varnish spots and just the title on it

so i'll try to fight for the lenticular option

I wonder how heavy type A is? Looks like at least as heavy as the Taiwan 47 Ronin Boxset.

I would say heavier as the book looks like it is hard cover, not paperback like 47 Ronin.

Edit: just double checked the picture and it doesn't look like a hardcover. Still think it will be heavier though.

Correct?
