Yeah I suggested that earlier, but many people don't like the idea of the print run being increased. We'll just have to wait and see what Steel Archive come back with.

Yeah, I noticed that and wanted to add my opinion to make the decision easier for Steelarchive. I don't like the idea to increase the print run more than necessary, because one argument for the significantly higher price compared to the standard edition is the very low print run of this release.

This is the collector talking not the mod:

First, a small detail out of the way: I didn't bother going for this steel cos I don't just buy pretty packages, the movie has to mean something to me. So I have no vested interest whether the print run is increased or not but even if I was interested in the steelbook, I'd still feel & say the same. With that out of the way, I believe:

- It's bad business practice to increase the print run to please some who missed out. A glitch happened causing the overselling, stuff like that happens all the time, even with well established companies, software isn't perfect and neither are the people programming it. We miss out on other titles with larger print runs and we move on, it's not the end of the world. It's all part of the game.

- If SA were to increase the print run and show that they're willing to bend the rules a bit, then mark my words, nothing will satisfy the collectors on future releases - who happen to miss out - until SA does the same again and again. So doing it now will set a bad precedent and will only encourage the often irrational sense of entitlement. Just cos another retailer did it in the past, it doesn't mean that's advised and don't get me started about the practices of that other retailer.

- I commend @DuckDogers for being so transparent with what has been happening. He's offered an apology and is willing to work with the community to find a solution that pleases everyone most, which is more than most other "premium" retailers have done in the past, but...

- ...If SA really wants to make it up to those 18 or so who feel they have been cheated out of their copy, the best course of action is to offer them a discount code to be used on future purchases from SA's online store.

agreed. the real problem from increasing previous print runs is the next time you have a pre order and people miss out, they are going to call you out and say 'well last time, you increased the print run, do it again for this release'. if you have done it once they will expect you to do it again.

That didn't happen with Novamedia did it.

I passed on this because I didn't know what the final artwork on the cover was going to be. I liked the original artwork, and I wasn't going to waste my time on a "100" print run. I'm not big on these micro releases. Doesn't mean much to me. Also, I didn't know Scanavo would produce a 100 piece print run. If this is true, I'm ready to get into the steelbook business. I imagine this is a shared run and might be popping up, elsewhere. This was a head scratcher from the beginning. :)

I'm not going to go on about it anymore as it's just negativity.

I'll grab the regular blu-ray :)

I am with you on this one! I have order number 20083 and it shows 8:01 p.m. for the time of the order, so I find it plausible that I was one of the last 18 orders!
The range from your canceled order to mine is 24 seconds at least and that seems kinda odd.

The image on Amazon.de shows the original artwork, and listed for EUR 17,99. SteelArchive shows the other "painting" artwork (which I don't care for), I guess that's the slip?

I like "extras" but I like the Amazon.de version better, featuring the cool, original artwork.

100% agree. And here's what I think is a good example with which to compare SteelArchive/Spring:

FilmArena's Once Above So Below : their first exclusive full slip, limited to 100 copies, only 10 copies allowed through the GB here: they didn't increase the print run, they didn't listen to those of us unhappy that we didn't get one, because sometimes that's just part of the hobby!

We're lucky we even got 20% of the stock going through HDN even though there's really no reason to offer GBs, unlike FilmArena (it's more expensive to buy there than go though Karel).

People paid €44.90 for a product limited to 100 copies. I'm not saying that you should give back a few euros if the print run suddenly increases, but it would trigger questions like that, unwanted consequences and yeah, it would be bad business to increase the print run afterwards.

If you do that once, @DuckDogers, then you know in the future you will get asked to do that again. So it's bad for SteelArchive in the long run if you allow them to bend your arm whenever people are unhappy (because there will always be unhappy people), even if they have a right to be unhappy.

If 100 different people get one Spring full slip exclusive, then SteelArchive have done their job and what they set out to do from the beginning!

I truly hope Exclusive #002 will be at least 300 copies, but from Day 1 it was planned that Exclusive #001 would be limited to 100 copies, not 118, 120 or 150 copies, and I think it should stay as advertised!

PS: Let's not forget about the fact that some people tried to order more than one and got banned, maybe you could collect the email address of those who got their order cancelled and give these copies to them, @DuckDogers? ;)

The "painting" IS the original release movie poster!! The Amazon.de is NOT.

This release was offically announced that its Limited to 100 copies. EVERYONE know it's only 100 copies.

I prefer the print run to remain at 100 as promised.

Agree 100%.
I agree with this. For someone the fact that it's actually only 100 copies can be the most important reason to buy it, and it would be a slap to the faces of us collectors if the print run was just suddenly increased. I understand that it's very frustrating that some people missed this because of their orders being cancelled, but there's always people who miss these when they are so limited. Life goes on, new editions will come, and hopefully next time Steelarchive will be more prepared and possibly make a bigger print run to have less disappointed collectors and more happy customers. :)

Thanks "C.C. 95"!!!! I don't like the original release movie poster artwork, I was attracted to this release by the first image I saw, the lady with the spikes, in the water. :woot:

I find it sad that in this forum, often referred to by many here as a community, that the prevailing attitude from those who didn't get their orders cancelled is, "I'm okay so f**k the rest of you!"

I haven't seen anything like that, just people stating their opinions. I think everyone has been quite empathic actually, but increasing the print run isn't the solution. Should the print run of every steelbook just be infinite, so no one would ever be sad? I've missed various steelbooks too, for who knows what reasons, cursed the situation and then moved on. I think that us ninjas know the best how it feels like to miss a rare edition. Even if I had missed this, I'd still say that the print run should stay the same, because changing it would be "**** you" to those who managed to order it.

really ? IMO there is none of that.

me : got one, and feel for you who did not. that IS the name of the game. as has been stated many time here ... but that is not fu.k you to those who did not.

...and in the end - it's just a blu-ray steelbook.

some times I think this forum is filled with happy, beautinful, healthy, rich people - who has nothing else to complain about but a blu-ray steelbook ????

and I did not mean anyone particular and not in a bad way ...

I'm not getting that impression...The guys who got their orders in are keeping quiet cos people missed out (for now).
