Got mine today, looks mint no dents or scratches on the front but I've not opened it yet so don't know what's lurking on the back!

The first release was a finger print magnet and had many noticeable imperfections due to high glossy finish on black background. I am yet to come across a single mint copy of the first one as it had some sort of issues especially on the back and on the banner.

I opened mine and both of them on the back is covered with scratches, never seen a steelbook as bad before and one has paint chip on the front, everyone should probably check the back of theirs

Ill back you up here. I ordered two copies to get a mint one and one is covered in chips front and back while the other has a Jack Reacher style defect line plus two other scratches front and back - ive had enough of this game now!

Hair line scratches were there on every single copy I had on the first release. Paints chip only on the corners or when the glue was peeled off after a long time from the black area.

They have the UK exclusive, so essentially it's a Zavvi exclusive too, but that's why no-one else is selling it in UK

Minor tear in the shrink wrap of one of mine, other than that all good, nice re release, glad I offloaded my Play.com copy, this is so close to the original it seems a decision thats paid off.

yeah mate I'm getting pretty fed up too, it looks like all these steels seem to have these hairline scratches but not many people have noticed them, its not easy to see them but if you shine a light on it there everywhere, its the worst Iv'e ever seen.

yeah I just can't believe how many hairline scratches are on mine, there must be dozens of them, plus a black line across the front and big scratch on blu banner on back with a nice paint chip too really disappointing thx for letting me know mate

Just put mine on the shelf - the spine slash is literally invisible now it's open. I'd be ok keeping this one which is odd considering how OCD I can be!

yeah that sux mate, the thing Iv'e noticed is its almost always the steels I'm most looking forward to that get damaged.

Got mine - in great condition, just one tiny paint fleck on the Enterprise on the front but compared to most of my recent arrivals it's great. Very pleased, can't wait to watch tomorrow night. Beware by the way, ridiculous amounts of glue on this one holding the card down.

Anybody see any reason as to why this has the blue banner? Surely there is no demand for having the blue banner across the top as it seems to be a thing of the past in terms of steelbooks. Im guessing the steelbook designers know this, so was it some sort of requirement to have the blue banner to be able to release it or...?
I know they have sold out anyway, but just seems strange that they couldnt remove it and make everyone happy.

so, a carbon copy of the original, but with no bonus disc.
so now a decision!
do i keep the play.com one? with its scratches.
do i keep the zavvi one? with no bonus disc.
do i swap the front and back off my play.com one with mint front and back off the zavvi one?
do i keep both? seems silly to keep 2 almost identiacal steels, especially with the black cover release arriving in a couple of weeks.
i dont NEED the bonus disc (and i will pick up the maray with slip at some point anyway)
and tbh i think the inside art is nicer without 3 discs obscuring it.
and the data sheet is a lot better/more substantial on the zavvi release.
decisions decisions!
