interesting tidbit.
loads of the Star Trek got damaged back in the day but no confirmed number tbh. In the region of a few thousand units / a pallet load, as a result of a fork lift error!! The warehouse ended up destroying them as they were un-returnable and no good to send to customers

It does, but I'm not going to sell it - struggling to justify £40 on one movie that happens to come in a metal soap dish.

I am with you on that one, most i have ever paid is £25, for Drive HMV as i didn't pull the trigger on release and left it too late. I open all of my Steelbooks to watch the movie, so i work on a theory of "if i am going to lose money if/when i come to sell on" then i will not buy. I can hand on heart say that i would at the very least get my money back (in most cases make a profit) on every single steelbook i own if i were to sell them tomorrow, so to get to the point, i wouldn't ever purchase a Steelbook at say £100, only to open it and enjoy it to it's fullest and in doing so as soon as the shrink is taken off decrease the value by maybe 50-60%.

Just want to clarify i don't buy Steelbooks to sell, but as is always the case, something tends to crop up where raising funds is necessary and selling some of the collection has to be done.

Only pay what youre happy to pay.

I wouldnt pay £40 for this as i have little interest in watching the film and i think its a very dull looking steelbook

I really like the film, but I can get it for a few quid off eBay or anywhere else for that matter. I'd literally only be buying it because it's 'rare' but like everything else it'll be worthless in a few years. I really don't want to go down that path. God knows what I'm going to do.

The problem gets worse when the only steelbooks that you want to add to your collection start off at £40. :(

Exactly, and I never want to get to that point. At some point I need to step back and think 'they look nice, but their value will become absolutely zero at some point just like DVDs and all I'm buying is a movie'. I think I may have reached that point and just stick with amaray - at the end of the day the movie is the same.

Thats why In this game you pay what YOU think it's worth because in the end if value does go down then at least you can live with what you paid for it.

I'd stick with the amaray then...:D

Personally I'd pass it up, I recently got a copy of this for a tenner in pretty good condition and I know of others who have done similar. For £40 it would have to be near mint for me to even consider it. It's not even that nice a steelie.

That's what I told myself when I started, but eventually I started paying for high end Steelbooks. ;):naughty:

You and me both man. I've cut back though. Only buy steels for movies I would rewatch over and over. Don't care about rarity, just getting what I enjoy. :oohyeah:

Same here.

I buy movies I love with a fancy case. I don't buy fancy cases with a movie in them.

There are some truly awful movies in amazing steelbooks, but that's not for me. I currently have 56 Blu-rays and 55 in steelbooks (I've been lucky that my favourite films have all had them).

Except in vary rare instances, I won't pay more than the retail price for a steelbook.

Got this when it came out and never really liked the Steelbook that much. Little did I no it would become so sought after plus valuable.
Glad it's in my collection now seeing the price of it on eBay!!!
:D

I've got this funny feeling that just maybe, that when Play finally close for trading that there could be some steelbooks hiding away a corner of their warehouse, hopefully this one, or i'm naive and optimistic lol
