There are two different order descriptions for each Steelboook:

1. Star Trek XI - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook [Blu-ray]
2. Star Trek XI - Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook [Blu-ray]

No 1 (The 'Zavvi Exclusive') is the black one.

And this is not the steelbook but just giving you idea on how it would look with the front and back. ie. giving the collector the choice of which side they want as front so you can switch the plates.

I don't recall that being mentioned here or on Zavvi's listing. Many thought it would be, myself included, due to Paramount's track record, but it looks like this isn't the case having seen the German version.

Hi members, after chatting with Zavvi about the delay, here's the information we've been given.

-New release date will be June 3rd, 2013.
-The steelbook packaging that you have come to expect from Zavvi also had a delay and rather sending these out in bubble mailers or other packages, they are awaiting a new delivery of these boxes. Some delay in the manufacturing process occurred apparently.

Hope that helps, updating the OP with the new release date, at least Zavvi understands how upsetting it would be for collectors to get these steels in not-as-safe packaging rather than just sending them out.

Would I be correct in assuming that orders for any steelbook from Zavvi (as in not Star Trek steels) before June 3rd would be in the craptastic bags they used to use? Should we wait until after this date for any steelbook purchases?

Last week I received a copy of another steelbook I bought from Amazon (US) and it came, after having crossed the Atlantic rattling around in a large box, without any bubble wrap or tissue to protect it. Given the number of comments about chips and dents by customers on here I'm happy to wait if they're attempting to ensure it gets to customers in good order.

I've got the amaray 3 disc edition and the Zavvi white one. So I'm thinking about selling my german black one...

I'm new to the "business". So what do you pros think? Should I keep this one?

Always remember. Do you like it.
I don't think its a fail. I have the newly released white version and I love it. I've also got this on order. It's not a bad price and I will probably not open it. All my new releases go inside clear plastic cases.
