Old Updates & infos:
NEW UPDATE 8/13/2013:
We have a short update on the finish details for our 2 exclusive Star Trek Into Darkness steelbooks. Both the steelbook in the Villain Edition and the Hero Edition steelbook will have debossed title treatments and be matte finishes. We had some fantastic ideas for the ***8220;special packaging***8221; we promised for the Hero Edition, but unfortunately the time constraints of turning this around in just over a month before the release date meant that none of them were possible. The Entertainment Store exclusive sticker that has been on our previous releases will be on these releases too, and we can only apologise for being able to make the Hero Edition special rather than extra special.

All is not lost though ***8211; some of the special packaging we had planned for Star Trek Into Darkness will be present on our next release, which we will be announcing exclusively via HDN on Tuesday 20th August. You won***8217;t be disappointed, I promise!

PREVIOUS UPDATE:
A stunning 2D and 3D blu-ray plus digital copy steelbook. Limited to 4,000 copies and available exclusively from The Entertainment Store. Finish, embossing, release date and pricing TBC, but we have really special plans for the packaging.

Original infos:From our friends at Entertainment Store in the UK:
The Entertainment Store Boldly goes where other E-tailers cannot

The fastest growing Entertainment E-tailer on the Marketplace, The Entertainment Store, continues its strong exclusive packaging offering in September 2013 with the introduction of 2 2D and 3D Blu Ray Steelbooks for Star Trek: Into Darkness Home Entertainment release.

The limited edition Steelbooks are limited to 4,000 copies each, and will be available to Pre-order from The Entertainment Store on Play.com from midday Friday July 19th 2013.

Since its arrival in March 2013 The Entertainment Store has been working closely with Paramount Home Entertainment and have already teamed up to bring us exclusive Blu Ray SKUs such as GI Joe and Hansel and Gretel but this latest batch of releases look to be the most interesting yet. The E-tailer distributes product directly from the Studio warehouses so the product is guaranteed as authentic and of the highest quality.

IMO. this is the best cover art from all that I've seen for now. The second one is the Walmart and Amz.UK were you see Khan in a more close up. Need a couple of weeks if any Asian release got a better one. But I think that this one will be in my collection. Will be my first group buy too.

No email confirmation either but appears in my order history.

My hunch is that a manual audit (no more than 3 is ordered) is going to take place before the emails are sent out...

You don't actually get an order confirmation from Play now. You're lucky if you get one to say its on its way, so I wouldn't worry, Tobjodajes. Just look at your account. Hope this helps. And, yes, love the Enterprise cover the best!

Maybe you don't, but I always get both (always have done an I've been using Play since before they were well known). Apart from on this occasion. Like has been mentioned though, it's in the order history, so all that matters is that there's a record.

Is this sold out already?

The link in the OP doesn't work for me (I know they don't deliver outside the UK but the link brings you to nothing??)

It looks like the links from here are going some sort of affiliate programme which is just redirecting to the Play homepage. If you copy the link and paste into your browser it works fine.

The price is very reasonable if you compare against the regular 3d blu ray at amazon and Zavvi. Very reasonable indeed.

Well prices seem to rise since high street stores are doing badly and before that closing the VAT loophole. I am very annoyed about that. Blu ray is no longer new, nor is 3D so why keep prices above £18?

Because the prices for most blus drop quite a lot and usually quite quickly, so they try to get as much as they can out of the people that will just buy it on release no matter what the price is.

It's true but the quality and content included for the rising prices are a sliding too.

However back on topic. For me this is the best design out of the 3. If the special packaging is a full slip then I hope it's worth it as I wouldn't want the cover to be covered up but a worse design.

I'm really, really hoping the special packaging they mention, is a magnet type lenticular slip like the life of pi 3D steelbook

The special packaging is just going to be a padded box. Guarantee it. No lenticular. No numbered slip. Just a good old play.com box.
