Old Updates & infos:
NEW UPDATE 8/13/2013:
We have a short update on the finish details for our 2 exclusive Star Trek Into Darkness steelbooks. Both the steelbook in the Villain Edition and the Hero Edition steelbook will have debossed title treatments and be matte finishes. We had some fantastic ideas for the ***8220;special packaging***8221; we promised for the Hero Edition, but unfortunately the time constraints of turning this around in just over a month before the release date meant that none of them were possible. The Entertainment Store exclusive sticker that has been on our previous releases will be on these releases too, and we can only apologise for being able to make the Hero Edition special rather than extra special.

All is not lost though ***8211; some of the special packaging we had planned for Star Trek Into Darkness will be present on our next release, which we will be announcing exclusively via HDN on Tuesday 20th August. You won***8217;t be disappointed, I promise!

PREVIOUS UPDATE:
A stunning 2D and 3D blu-ray plus digital copy steelbook. Limited to 4,000 copies and available exclusively from The Entertainment Store. Finish, embossing, release date and pricing TBC, but we have really special plans for the packaging.

Original infos:From our friends at Entertainment Store in the UK:
The Entertainment Store Boldly goes where other E-tailers cannot

The fastest growing Entertainment E-tailer on the Marketplace, The Entertainment Store, continues its strong exclusive packaging offering in September 2013 with the introduction of 2 2D and 3D Blu Ray Steelbooks for Star Trek: Into Darkness Home Entertainment release.

The limited edition Steelbooks are limited to 4,000 copies each, and will be available to Pre-order from The Entertainment Store on Play.com from midday Friday July 19th 2013.

Since its arrival in March 2013 The Entertainment Store has been working closely with Paramount Home Entertainment and have already teamed up to bring us exclusive Blu Ray SKUs such as GI Joe and Hansel and Gretel but this latest batch of releases look to be the most interesting yet. The E-tailer distributes product directly from the Studio warehouses so the product is guaranteed as authentic and of the highest quality.

Watch it last night, great movie :scat: and i think J.J Abrams will do a fantastic job for Star Wars :movie:

why exactly do people pay such amounts for this when its pretty clear that this will drop down to retail price eventually ? i mean this steel is released worldwide and es offers absolutely nothing special, see jack reacher and hansel&gretelES (they go for less than RRP in auctions)

This won't drop down to retail price again.

1. This art isn't as widespread as the Villain or Amazon as you think and for a lot of people this is their favorite artwork.

2. It's still a pretty limited run of 4000 and look how much some 4000 releases go for now.

3. It's a blockbuster movie of a massive franchise. This has way more appeal than JR or H&G. Look at Thor or Captain America. Literally same artwork EVERYWHERE plus the HMV one didn't have 3D or was a limited run.

If this drops down to cost price again I'll buy you one myself (I've got my fingers crossed ;) )

most collectors will prefer the mm lenticular or blufans, the rest will buy the amaray or a cheaper version of this steelbook... i mean whats entertainment store for the regular amazon customer ? absolutely nothing

but we'll see ;)

Hansel and Gretel and Jack Reacher had their fair share for long. The price dropped only recently.

Star Trek ES may drop by few quid when all the folks who paid silly money got hold of a copy but I doubt this will massively drop in price as it is quite limited.

they had very low print runs and were high due to massive hype.. same here.. the movie might be more popular, but this offset by lot higher print run, better alternatives, etc.etc.

ofc ppl can make a few bucks out of this 1-2 months after its release, but it will drop down to RRP eventually

I think most people will be put off by the blufans price and go for this and I wouldn't class regular amazon customers as collectors. I don't by any means think this will get up to Thor prices but it'll hold steady after a while.

As you said, we'll see how it plays out but I think you're massively underestimating this one considering it wasn't even available outside the UK.

Am I correct in thinking you didnt order the ES version, you ordered the MM german edition and the Blufans right?

Of course you will stick up for your steels! Only natural :naughty:

I agree with Jitstark. I said right at the start that this was the best artwork, and the only steel to have this artwork, which is why right now most collectors are after this.

You're totally wrong. I don't care about Star Trek and didnt order any version ;-)

i think that almost everyone who could possibly want this already got a copy and probably some spares to serve the short term excess demand..

tbh i dont think that any future steelbook will rise in price unless its print run and/or price is initially set too low

Finally received my (replacement) copy today, the protective postal packaging wasn't what I expected but at least I now own it and it appears to be mint.

I'll be watching this at the weekend :D

I'm sad this is only released in the UK. Group Buy is also full. Now I won't be able to get myself one of these :(

Is there anyone out there willing to assist a fellow collector from Canada? :ohno:

I got two of these last week, 1 shipped yesterday 1 is packing if I get both and they are good then I would consider doing a deal for one with you.

Finally gave in to temptation and grabbed a copy. Hopefully this isn't an error and the orders will be fulfilled :)
