Old Updates & infos:
NEW UPDATE 8/13/2013:
We have a short update on the finish details for our 2 exclusive Star Trek Into Darkness steelbooks. Both the steelbook in the Villain Edition and the Hero Edition steelbook will have debossed title treatments and be matte finishes. We had some fantastic ideas for the ***8220;special packaging***8221; we promised for the Hero Edition, but unfortunately the time constraints of turning this around in just over a month before the release date meant that none of them were possible. The Entertainment Store exclusive sticker that has been on our previous releases will be on these releases too, and we can only apologise for being able to make the Hero Edition special rather than extra special.

All is not lost though ***8211; some of the special packaging we had planned for Star Trek Into Darkness will be present on our next release, which we will be announcing exclusively via HDN on Tuesday 20th August. You won***8217;t be disappointed, I promise!

PREVIOUS UPDATE:
A stunning 2D and 3D blu-ray plus digital copy steelbook. Limited to 4,000 copies and available exclusively from The Entertainment Store. Finish, embossing, release date and pricing TBC, but we have really special plans for the packaging.

Original infos:From our friends at Entertainment Store in the UK:
The Entertainment Store Boldly goes where other E-tailers cannot

The fastest growing Entertainment E-tailer on the Marketplace, The Entertainment Store, continues its strong exclusive packaging offering in September 2013 with the introduction of 2 2D and 3D Blu Ray Steelbooks for Star Trek: Into Darkness Home Entertainment release.

The limited edition Steelbooks are limited to 4,000 copies each, and will be available to Pre-order from The Entertainment Store on Play.com from midday Friday July 19th 2013.

Since its arrival in March 2013 The Entertainment Store has been working closely with Paramount Home Entertainment and have already teamed up to bring us exclusive Blu Ray SKUs such as GI Joe and Hansel and Gretel but this latest batch of releases look to be the most interesting yet. The E-tailer distributes product directly from the Studio warehouses so the product is guaranteed as authentic and of the highest quality.

It's a lovely steel make no mistake, but it's got to go a long way to beat the Japanese Dredd and the ES Forbidden Planet steelbooks.

I agree with you that in terms of embossing and overall treatment Forbidden Planet is unmatched, but I also took into account the movie itself.

^^ no matte finished steel is worthy of being crowned steel of the year imo

tho weve had such a lame year when it comes to finishing we might not have a choice :BS:

I think it is a pretty quality matte, obviously I would have preferred hi-gloss but it looks great and the film was awesome

Says the guy who named himself after John Carter. :hilarious:

Just kidding I LOVED John Cater. Forbidden Planet is a freakin' awesome movie that is totally worthy of an amazing steelbook.

Really? Ok great I have never seen it, I just got it on Monday from the group buy so I guess I will have to give it a watch this weekend.

John Carter was a great movie, horribly marketed.

Not sure about Dredd even though I own it, but I love the Forbidden Planet Steelbook (nice finish and awesome embossing + classic art) even though I never watched the movie before. It is definitely in the top 5 Steelbooks for me of 2013.

I'm afraid I found Into Darkness the film a disappointment after the impressive 2009 reboot. I'm hoping for the next film they do something more original rather than plunder a pre-existing storyline.

As for Dredd. It was the perfect combination for me.

A fantastic old school adult Sci-Fi action film with an uber sexy Japanese steelbook release. :scat:

This won't drop down to retail price again.

1. This art isn't as widespread as the Villain or Amazon as you think and for a lot of people this is their favorite artwork.

2. It's still a pretty limited run of 4000 and look how much some 4000 releases go for now.

3. It's a blockbuster movie of a massive franchise. This has way more appeal than JR or H&G. Look at Thor or Captain America. Literally same artwork EVERYWHERE plus the HMV one didn't have 3D or was a limited run.

If this drops down to cost price again I'll buy you one myself (I've got my fingers crossed ;) )

Snagged one, arrived last week.

Really like how it keeps the Enterprise front artwork theme going from the 2009 white version. Also like how the 2009 one is going up and to the left and this one goes down and to the right, they really compliment each other when placed side by side.

Hopefully the steel for the next movie, whenever it comes, will match this one and the first one.

Well I'm glad this one can still be found reasonably priced. Even with the blufans tripack on the way and the MM lenticular on my shelf, I'm still craving this edition from ES. What's wrong with me? :D

A friendly reminder -no trading in movie threads. After 30 non spamming posts start a trading thread in the Steelbook trading area. Thanks.
