NEW UPDATE 8/13/2013:
We have a short update on the finish details for our 2 exclusive Star Trek Into Darkness steelbooks. Both the steelbook in the Villain Edition and the Hero Edition steelbook will have debossed title treatments and be matte finishes. We had some fantastic ideas for the “special packaging” we promised for the Hero Edition, but unfortunately the time constraints of turning this around in just over a month before the release date meant that none of them were possible. The Entertainment Store exclusive sticker that has been on our previous releases will be on these releases too, and we can only apologise for being able to make the Hero Edition special rather than extra special.

All is not lost though – some of the special packaging we had planned for Star Trek Into Darkness will be present on our next release, which we will be announcing exclusively via HDN on Tuesday 20th August. You won’t be disappointed, I promise!

Star Trek Into Darkness – The Villain Edition (Entertainment Store Exclusive)
Deluxe packaging featuring a 1:50 scale model of the USS Vengeance alongside a stunning 2D and 3D blu-ray plus digital copy steelbook. Limited to 4,000 copies and available exclusively from The Entertainment Store. Final packaging, steelbook finish, embossing, release date and pricing TBC.

PREVIOUS UPDATES
From our friends at Entertainment Store in the UK:
The Entertainment Store Boldly goes where other E-tailers cannot

The fastest growing Entertainment E-tailer on the Marketplace, The Entertainment Store, continues its strong exclusive packaging offering in September 2013 with the introduction of 2 2D and 3D Blu Ray Steelbooks for Star Trek: Into Darkness Home Entertainment release.

The limited edition Steelbooks are limited to 4,000 copies each, and will be available to Pre-order from The Entertainment Store on Play.com from midday Friday July 19th 2013.

Since its arrival in March 2013 The Entertainment Store has been working closely with Paramount Home Entertainment and have already teamed up to bring us exclusive Blu Ray SKUs such as GI Joe and Hansel and Gretel but this latest batch of releases look to be the most interesting yet. The E-tailer distributes product directly from the Studio warehouses so the product is guaranteed as authentic and of the highest quality.

The Vengeance model retailed for $15-18 US here until they were bought by scalpers and marked up to almost $30. If anything you could try to sell it off but it doesn't seem worth the hassle, and the ship's sculpt is rather underdetailed and the only thing to scale with it is the difficult-to-find Enterprise that retailed for $1 until it too was bought by scalpers.

When I saw the price on this all that came to mind was EEK!EEK!EEK! I understand it has 3D but that price is out of this world. Having compared costs from the GB's, I would rather have an Taiwan 3D version which will hopefully be announced at the normal price, along with my Wally version and blufans later on and maybe a German version if 3D is included

there is no point to this release for those that dont want the ship. Future shop has the same exact art and so does blufans...

same goes for the wally world release (amazon.uk has the same art without the ship)

this release now needs to be thought through in the most economical way in my opinion

I'm just realizing that this comes with the ship! I'm going to pass on this one and get this version from Blu fans!

So the model is roughly 6 inches long, and supposedly 1:50 scale. Are they seriously suggesting that the full size starship is only 25 feet long?

Amazon has different art, there are three UK versions.

Couldn't warrant spending an extra £20 for a ship so ordered the other version from ES UK & keeping an eye on the Amazon UK release too, to many options and bank account keeps screaming at me but too addictive not to keep pre-ordering steelbooks!! Might have to get rid of the dining room table to get more Blu Ray shelving in (Do it when the missus is out shhhhhh)!!

Hot Wheels Star Trek Spaceships are very popular. I tried to see if I could pick up the Enterprise to match up with the Vengeance and it costs a fortune. Without the Enterprise I'll pass, but these ships do seem to appreciate.

So this set comes with a 3D/2D steelbook and a 1/50 scale model. One can only think that the model will not be good quality considering the entire set is priced at £44.99.

It seems that the price has been hiked up by scalpers as according to psychomugs post the actual prices were $15-18 for the Vengeance & $1.00 for the Enterprise (1:50 scale)....;)
