I've preordered this because I am a fan of the movie and have been hoping for a steelbook. Now the time has come I am buying it. If you don't like this steelbook then dont comment on this thread!!!!

They were new releases not an old catalogue title, besides they hung around until release date then stocks went only when in hand pics were revealed. People order this for the reason you say - 1) 2K (and fear of losing out) and 2) Profit. If it was a normal print run ppl wouldn't have ordered it for either of those reasons imo.

yes people do order for those reasons but as above, people also order because the WANT THE FILM, some people seem to forget this, i am not saying it would have sold out so fast or caused as much 'buzz' without the limited run but its not everything!

3) best release yet of an absolute cult movie

Yep 100% I love this film but the Canadian version was just pants! That whole wave that was released were just poor. Doesn't really matter what the print run is, this was an instant purchase. New extra's, great art, and a chance of this being a gloss finish with silver embossed lettering = Win! :scat:

I haven't ordered it just because its a 2k run and i'm sure as hell not going to sell it. Maybe some people will buy only for those reasons but im pretty sure majority will be fans of the film wanting this in their collections!

Yep ordered one for myself because I like the movie. But that doesn't mean I can't discuss why I think this sold out so amazing fast for an old catalogue title does it :)

I wasn't disagreeing with you, more with others earlier on saying it was rubbish, no point in buying, and the only reason anyone bought one was the print run etc etc.

Not for me, rly dislike the ca artwork, no matter if its gloss or matte

however, if this turns out to be streaky matte, it wont be good enough as well

I don't think you can say that about the finish, if it's matte then the Canadian one is better. Hopefully this is glossy but usually Zavvi mention if it is so I wouldn't count on it.

Can't stand the art on the Canadian version. I pretty much hated that entire range that was sold through Amazon CA late last year. Future Shop is where it's at for Canadian releases. Even if matte I still prefer this and the lettering looks silver embossed. :D

Yes we don't know the finish yet as to it been matte or gloss
StudioCanal recent steelbooks have been very good quality

But important Factor here the Film itself
Canadian Version is the 15th Anniversary Edition
Canadian Version The Making of Stargate is the Short version (23:33)

UK Version is Ultimate Edition
Stargate: 20th Anniversary

StudioCanal
UK Version The Making of Stargate (52:02) longer version
Steelbook itself has inside artwork

UK Stargate: 20th Anniversary Front and back Artwork is in my opinion better than 15th Anniversary Edition Steelbook Canadian Version and USA Best Buy Version

UK 20th Anniversary

Fair enough, but curious how anyone could not like Sin City, since minus the discs, it was superior to the German version in every way (back art + a nice glossy finish). Hero was also a solid release from that wave.

yeah, sin city was great + i also liked total recall better than the uk release

That was the first Sin City, not from that wave. It was very nice, but the second Sin City was identical to the German version minus the German text :)

What?

Definitely from the same wave. It arrived at my house on the same day as Hero, Total Recall, and Stargate.

It was only identical to the German version if you don't include the glossy finish, cleaned up front, discs, spine, back art, and inside art. Anyway, now we're getting really off-topic :).

Oh didn't realize there were differences. Still getting one from them mint is almost impossible it seems for international customers, and it's not region free which is a major no no for me! :D

Almost impossible for us domestic customers too :p. Got three copies from them, and they all had ended up having scratched spines. Besides the poor packaging, I don't think steels are treated too well in their warehouses, which is a shame.

Yes Sin City Canadian steelbook looked nice was Glossy but was only Theatrical Cut

Important factor Sin City Canadian steelbook had big difference to previous steelbooks was missing second Disc that had recut version of the film and extras missing that's something of a big no with this release you never ever should drop extra cut of film and extras with any Sin City release
I consider dropping a extended film cut and extras as a massive mistake
