Today as a sudden flip, I've actually seen a bunch of people against Pegg's statements in the boards. I guess it all comes down to which boards you go on and which sections, or specific threads. But anyways someone made a good point about the over emphasis it seems there is with the cast and crew really stating that they are putting a lot of care and love going into this new movie. Does that mean they are saying that there wasn't a lot of care and love put into the prequels? Or the entire saga for that matter? I have to admit I could be reading too much into this because I'm so used to so many people crapping on the prequel fans, but it almost feels like they are going out of their way to make sure they are really appealing to the OT only fan base without acknowledging that any care was put into the PT. I have never really heard Kathleen Kennedy or JJ really embrace the saga as a whole. I haven't heard them specifically bash the prequels, but I just don't hear them offering up any acknowledgement for the PT fans, or the whole saga fans. And there was that quote where JJ was joking about putting the bones of Jar Jar in the desert :cautious:. Since this is Ep VII I do think this movie should share more DNA with the OT than the PT, but it concerns me that they could just completely shun the PT fan base from this point forward just by choosing to not comment about it.

It feels like a "what if the OT was made today" kinda thing to me. Which is cool, but it is going to have a PT feel as well considering Doug Chiang's work on it. IMO, the whole "love and care" comments are nothing more than just typical hollywood BS for the net nerds. I don't need to constantly hear that kinda stuff to know that they went in wanting to make a good movie, but no doubt they throw that type of stuff around for the rabid fans. IMO, I think JJ and Kathleen don't say much at GL's request because of the rabid fans. He wants this movie to have a chance. Kinda the same way that GL said that they didn't use any of his ideas for TFA. Come on! Really? Who believes that? You're telling the one guy, the creator, who "know more about the subject matter than anyone else" (Kershner quote there) his going to have his ideas left out? LMAO! Even Kasdan during the SDCC SW panel said, "He was very true absolute monster genius and none of us would be here if it weren't for him" in reference to the genius that GL is. I don't believe it for a micro second that GL's ideas were left out, and it is just words tossed around to keep the rabid net nerds from having a hissy fit. Yeah, I heard about JJB's bones in the desert, LOL! I'd actually love to see that.

I think I'm just being paranoid. I'm just reading too much into what is and what isn't being said. I'm starting to think that I'm now becoming like the OT-only fans who are unwilling to move on from their own personal nostalgia to realize the similarities between both trilogies, or the greatness in the prequels. I'm becoming that way except I'm in the opposite camp complaining that its not going to be enough like the prequels lol. I wonder if its the same thing for me with Batman v Superman, or even MOS for that matter. I could be stuck too much in my own personal nostalgia from superhero films of my childhood to accept anything new as being good. I've become the very fan that I hate LMAO! And now its happening with me and Star Wars :ohno: :bag:.

I totally hear you man. It's easy to fall into that way of thinking when you constantly hear "it feels more like the OT" in reference to TFA. Umm, yeah, the PT would feel more like the OT too if they copy and pasted Ford, Hamil, Fisher, the MF, and other things found in the OT in it. To me, it doesn't feel like the OT. It feels upgraded. More polished and refined unlike the OT which was more gritty so to speak. Throwing TIE Fighters and upgraded Stormtroopers in TFA ain't going to make it feel like the OT, and while OT actors are appearing in it, it will still be something new, like it or not. Those fans who are expecting the OT need to get over it. These three new movies, and the Anthology stuff, will have their own vibe. Which is cool, IMO.

I hope you are right, because that a brand new vibe sounds sounds great. And the more that I think about it thats probably how it will feel. I think Simon Pegg just got me all riled up this week, and sent me into a PT defending tirade. But it just doesn't help that LFL or JJ hasn't said anything against his comment. I'll just never be happy when I hear someone bashing George's work.

You and me both! Not being 100% happy is one thing, but this total lack of respect from some "fans" for the guy who without him, this wouldn't exist in the first place, is uncalled for. BTW, I hope I'm right too, LOL!

I wonder if we'll see a new TFA trailer revealed at D23 thats coming up in a couple weeks. Hard to believe but we are finally only a little over 4 months away from the movie :woot:.

I don't know if you've seen this yet, but I know you like Marvel movies too. The Red Band trailer for Deadpool:

LMAO! Yeah, I've been playing that DP trailer all day. My family is excited as well especially that RR is back!

I read, somewhere, that a full length trailer would be released at some point, but unsure when. I'm excited, but also a little worried it will show more than I wanna know. Ok, more than I know already, LOL!

The artwork is awesome! I'm PO'ing these day 1!

Well if you know a lot it probably won't spoil that much for you LOL. I still am dodging spoilers as much as possible. Can't believe I've made it this far. But I am geeked for whenever they decide to release a full length trailer.

I've never double dipped on a Blu or DVD purchase. But these are very tempting. I don't collect steelbooks, and I'm sure if I did these would be a no-brainer. But having said that I'm really considering these just because of how awesome they look.

Yeah, I'm not a steelbook collector either, but for Star Wars and my SW room, it'll make a nice little presentation.

Stick to your guns man! And, once someone starts talking about it, hush them up quick! Don't make the same mistake I did, LOL!

I'm so shocked that my SW friends are avoiding the spoilers too. I can't remember if I was the same way during all the prequels. I do remember playing some of the Ep. III game right before the movie came out and I spoiled the beginning of the movie right up through the fight with Dooku. I was so shocked that they had a lightsaber duel that early in the movie.

I think I'll at least get the Maul steelbook. I don't know if I'll double dip on all of them, but it would be pretty hard for me to pass up on Maul.

Whoa thats weird. Best Buy has it up for order and ANH is $5 cheaper than the other 5 of them. IIRC when the digital collection came out ANH was cheaper than the rest too.

That is weird. Finally went up on Amazon, but it's the same price as the others. Walmart has them for $16.96. Going to see if Best Buy will match it (using HDN link).

No doubt! Also, FWIW, I find that the ship dates on WM.com are usually in line with everyone else even though it says December.

I totally agree. I've seen them put a December 31 release date on a bunch of pre-order stuff. Usually their website just isn't as up to date on actual release dates as others, but luckily their deliveries are.

So you ordered all of them? Those should look pretty sweet with the rest of your SW Blu collection with your Imperial Seal bookends.

Yeah, got them all ordered. BB gave me a "one time" deal, LOL! I need to find some good holders for the steelbooks so I can display them with the artwork facing out. Just not 100% sure where I'll put them yet.

Hey, let me ask you (and anyone else who wants to chime in) what question would you ask JJ about TFA if given the chance?

"Does The Force have a cup of coffee after it awakens, or head for the bathroom first?"
