yet another reason for people to not bother with a lot of these japanese releases, especially from amazon!!
repeated artwork, extortionate shipping charges and customs duty?
HELL NO!!!!

We haven't had the artwork confirmed yet though! I agree if it is the same, there's no point unless it has an awesome slip. But if it's different....could be awesome!

I miss my sdcc's but this may make me forget all about them if the slip is there. I don't know why they wouldn't. Especially if its same artwork

Nisei,
Most of this wave from amazon.jp are also available at HMV.JP in case your interested. I no which one I also prefer for getting a better price.

This Steelbook from amazon.jp with shipping costs 5,382 Yen to the UK, from HMV.JP 3,909 Yen, Plus packing from amazon.jp is not the best. The last package I got from HMV.JP was packed incredibly well, much better protection than amazon.jp.

I agree that amazon.jp has excellent customer service, which you can't fault. But for me I have had less damaged and better priced steels from HMV.JP all with EMS tracking. ;)

I have also had excellent customer service from HMV.JP

I haven't bought from HMV (JP) before, and I'm surprised that you are saying they have better packaging. I'm going to order the entire wave from there and compare the final price. HMV prices are higher than Amazon JP tho.

Ahh yes, but I checked the cost of the whole wave to the UK and the difference was a few hundred Yen (albeit in favour to HMV), so the cost is negligible unless you only want to buy one of these steelbooks, if not I guess it all boils down to personal preference.

Do HMV tend to avoid customs charges?

Yep the total for 6 steelies from Amazon: ¥16,292 (A$172) vs HMV ¥15468 (A$163). Only $9 difference, so I rather go for Amazon and their amazing Customer Service.

Been wanting this one from Canada go a while and this version translates at about £15 do good price. Hear Amazon Japan's postage is often as pricey as the steels themselves though? Anyone in the UK confirm whether or not you pay customs from Japan?

Is that including shipping?

Yes, always unfortunately.

I agree rod if you are buying the whole wave. I was just comparing the cost for one steel shipped to the UK. If it was just amazon's customer service I was comparing then yes they are the best. I have a big problem with there packing, that box they use is so weak that every delivery I have had from them the box is always hanging open at one end and usually dented in the middle. Plus I always get at least one or more damaged steels from them. Due to the packing even with the gift wrap option I always use. They really need to start to use the packing we get from amazon.uk for steels I think.
Where as with HMV maybe I have been lucky but the steels I have bought from them have all been packed in a strong cardboard box with lots of bubble wrap and also the steel placed inside two padded envelopes then wrapped in the bubble then placed in the box.
Also it's cheaper for you lucky guys in OZ than us in the UK .
For me anyway I only usually buy 3 Steelbooks at a time from Japan and I have always been luckier with HMV.
Amazon.jp always gets me stung with customs and so far with HMV I have not.
If amazon improve there packaging and they can sort out the duty like when I buy from amazon.us then I would go with them more often. ;)

@Hayemaker - No those costs do not include shipping. For that you are looking at around £150 or 21,000 YEN.

From your experience, Scope I'm guessing you may have been lucky with customs. I would say that if im going for the whole wave im going to have to pay custons no matter what. :(

Your info about their packaging is giving me plenty of food for thought. I may end up switching to HMV, I can't decide lol!

I know these past few posts have not been about the steel itself but I do think they are useful info for members looking to import one or all of this wave. :)

@CaptainCoffee and @hayemaker It does include shipping to Australia. I believe the shipping cost are slightly cheaper for us than Europe.

@earthscope I understand your point. I always try to combine multiple steels from Japan due the high shipping cost. But it gets delivered here in 48 hours, and I haven't had problems. Last time I only got a single steel (Iron Sky) and it got delivered in perfect condition, however they used a jiffy bag. I must say that I was freaking out when opening the envelope.

Captain do what I do buy from both then you are sure to get a mint set. :scat:

:hilarious:

rod.... Jiffy Bag EEK! You were very lucky to get that rare beauty mint bud. :D

I am starting to think that this Steelbook will have a killer slip or maybe just wishful thinking. But being Japan surely they will not just put out the same generic steel that has been out before. They have to make this special I hope. ;)
