Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:

1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund

2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

well my replacement had a slashed spine, and a small paint chip on front. And my origninal had 2 paint chips on the back so after abit of customisation i now have a prefect Taken 2 Steelbook :oohyeah:

That's the advantage of getting your replacement before you have to send the original back. I did the self same thing when my E.T. Arrived with a cut spine and the replacement had a dent. Swapped them over.

Another average looking Steelbook from Fox. Looks dull due to the matte finish. This one begs to be glossy. Also got some weird paint flecks on both my copies. One of them sealed and I can see one paint fleck through the wrap. The other one got paint flecks on 4 spots. Can someone please check their copy and confirm if they are present? If it is manufacturing related I am not going to ask for a replacement.

yep got a paint fleck top left on the front

yeah my 1st copy had one in the same place has your 1st picture (which i ain't really fussed about about has it not that noticeable) but my replacement is covered in them 3-4 on front 1 on top and 2 on bottom, and none on the back of both.

yeah they are annoying i have a few of them on the front of my seven steel and one on the back of plays taken and a few others too, but would rather have them than dents or scratches lol

That looks normal to me. I've got plenty of Matte steelbooks with small patches like that. It's annoying but at least it's not a paint chip (thats the way I look at it)

Yeah I have a few like that also. It's like the paint didn't fully cover the steelbook properly in certain spots. I can live with them as long as it isn't very noticeable.
 
got my replacement and has a few paint chips on the back plus this big mark on the front right side at the bottom, looks like another steel i'm having to miss out on.
 
Fantastic - arrived in nice frustration free box which was not damaged.... unfortunately the same cannot be said for the steelbook - big 'ol dent on the top. Time for a replacement order.

I wonder how much money they lose because of us fussy collectors? :hilarious:

I'm looking forward to watching the Extended cut as something was certainly lacking in the theatrical version

I think in the UK version only 3 scenes were trimmed slightly for the theatrical version. That horrible choppy editing that spoils all the action scenes is unfortunately the way it was made. :(
