Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

People should just be aware of 2 things:

1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund

2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

The site is now offline. How can they charge customers on pre-orders? I am going to check with in-store staffs tomorrow to understand what they would do to pre-orders. If they charge it would be criminal.

Is this going to be on amazon also? Have this and Looper preordered w/ HMV.com and cant cancel now due to no website. I hope we dont get screwed over by this.

It makes feel a lot better about ordering the Taiwan version...but it means at this rate there will be nowhere in the UK to buy steelbooks, No play and no HMV exclusives...

I wonder if the publishers will cave in at the thought of more profit (like with Looper) or be respectful and honor the now void contract of keeping a this HMV exclusive.

I wouldn't complain. Amz packaging for steelbooks is superb.

Has anyone actually tried calling HMV to enquire about pre-orders?

I rang them at lunchtime and the women I spoke with was quite blunt, said she didn't know/ couldn't say anything and so I said "Do I need to ring the administrators hotline then?" and she said yes! Wasn't very helpful but them they probably only know about as much as us? Have heard conflicting posts from other members one saying all pre orders have been cancelled by the administrators but I'll wait till I hear it from the horses mouth so to speak

If this ends up not coming out in the UK, I will stick with the slipcover, I really don't like the French steelbook, and even though I thought the film was entertaining, it's was not good enough for me to spend a lot of money to import it outside Europe.

Well yeah, there's no excuse for being rude! At the beginning of the conversation I apologised for asking the same question I'm sure she'd heard a thousand times already "Whats happening to our preorders?". I can appreciate that she may not have had a clue what's going on but what's happened is no more my fault than it is hers and at the end of the day she's still being paid to donher job for now so she could atleast have been polite? Other people have spoken to HMV since the administration and have not been spoken to like that, quite the contrary, one was almost in tears!

Yes Rick all HMV pre-orders are cancelled and no further orders will be fulfilled.
