This looks like a bad joke. You zavvi guys had all the work done, just using the original movie poster without any change; that was awesome and would have been an instant buy for most of us. But nooo, you had to stick a nonsense image of the earth on top of it :wtf: Hey designer dude, this is no national geographic's documentary about the reproduction of turtles! :shoot: As much as I like the movie, I won't buy it.

In a world...full of bad guys,
there are turtles that are ultimate
fighters for peace.
Now, an intergalactic predator from the planet
(that you can see on the steel) will come to
test theirs abillity in very brutal showdown.

TMNT vs. Predator;)

What monkey is in charge of designing this turd? The addition of a title on the spine is a step in the right direction (even thought the font used on the posters would be better), but what about the front? And why the giant planet? Just use the original poster and you'd have so many more sales!

Looks like they can't make up their mind on the print run either! Which is it, 2,500 or 3,000??

I think this explains why so much of Zavvi's 'sold out' Steelbooks come back in stock again afterwards.

Same as some others. Even with the artwork being questionable, I do need to add the film to my collection in steel, so even if they had a pile of turtle poop on the cover, I would be forced to get it as it's the only release.

Personally, I don't feel me "taking a stand" and passing on it would get a steelbook with better artwork released. The only thing it would get me, is no steelbook.

is there a way we could do some sort of petition to get the original poster art instead of this earth one which NOBODY prefers over the original.

think of any classic movie poster and just plonk a massive picture of the earth over it... that is what they have done.

it defies all logic and is simply wrong. somebody with some authority (or just sense) needs to get it changed

Exactly not much is going to happen the steelbook is going to sell no matter the artwork really, all the people who hate on the art probably end up pre ordering anyway like the scream and sin city steels. I like the film I don't own it rather have it in steel than amaray so I will get it.

Of course it would, money talks. If they don't sell their allocation then the retailer will go back to the manufacturer and complain/inform them of poor sales. But the problem? People still buy it anyway (even if it's terrible), like you said. I really wanted a nice Sin City steelbook, but no way would I want that disaster on my shelf, so I didn't buy it. But plenty of people did...

I'm not singling you out, but you (and many others) are the reason these below-par releases are selling out. Why would Zavvi care about artwork and customer complaints if they sell out their allotment? The same can be said for Kimchi, Blufans etc. They could send out the most horrible steelbook going, slap a Kimchi sticker on it and it would sell out. It's like people aren't even exercising their own judgement anymore, they're just buying anything and everything that comes out!

The design of this steelbook is not good, and it's a real shame that it will probably sell out anyway. And I'll be left without another title I wanted to own, but didn't want to spend ~£20 for - due to the poor design.

I used to hold this opinion. Now, almost four hundred Steelbooks later, I wonder why I ever did. Instead of building a collection of premium editions, I have built a collection of some really nice Steelbooks but also a lot of mediocre ones and some downright terrible ones. I really regret it now and wish I had been more selective.

I know what you both mean but I don't think it's making much difference they're always gonna sell out with these "ultra limited print runs" but I'm an average collector don't own any international steels only UK releases so if the film isn't released here in steel I tend to go for the amaray but that's my choice. If I get the chance to own it in steel here I would rather have it in steel these kimchi and blu fans don't interest me they're nice art and stuff and I see what people mean they are better than half the stuff zavvi release but I'd rather have my collection all UK releases. All comes down to what you want to spend your money on.

Except this title isn't an ultra limited run.

I don't want this thread to go ever further off track, but I just have to say that blaming those that buy it (and previous "low quality" releases) here as being part of the problem with the subpar releases continuing is a case of not seeing the forest through the trees.
With the print run being only 2500-3000, there is simply no way that even every single member of HDN boycotting this would keep it from selling out, much less ever result in Zavvi going to the manufacturer to complain of poor sales.
I mean, can you even imagine that? Hey, this steelbook we bought through you isn't selling well and we think it has to do with the design of the product we approved to sell. So... We blame that on you and want a different design now at little to no additional cost. :hilarious:

It's the steel they put on the table, we can buy it or not, but in either case, the result will be the same IMO - a sellout.

If that's the case, I would rather have a TMNT steel than no TMNT steel.
