Same as some others. Even with the artwork being questionable, I do need to add the film to my collection in steel, so even if they had a pile of turtle poop on the cover, I would be forced to get it as it's the only release.

Personally, I don't feel me "taking a stand" and passing on it would get a steelbook with better artwork released. The only thing it would get me, is no steelbook.

this is some peoples fav film. this to some people is the dream film getting the steelbook treatment. which only amplifies how painful it is to see it getting poor (even insulting) treatment in regards to art/design.

when its merely a film you like or fancy seeing that doesnt get a great treatment, its not a big deal. its just a good film in a steelbook. but when its one of your fav films that has some sentimental value to you, a poor design is a great disappointment.

this film is one for the fans, its quite obviously being put out for the fans to coincide with the new turtles film. so it baffles me why the artist would treat a film with such a strong fan following win such disregard. it baffles me why they would not give the fans what they want. no fan would like this art, that is a fact.

as a fan, you would buy it because its what you have always wanted, but that doesnt stop you from knowing it could have been a lot better and is a massive missed opportunity to create a classic steelbook.

It could always be worse I suppose, I always try to find the positives in a negative situation. Least it's getting a steelbook and it's a Fan favourite. The irony here is I never saw the first movie only the third but pre-ordered this one on Zavvi when it originally went live in March.

This aint gonna sell out til it hits £6-7.99....maybe. And I dont think that most of the people complaining are going to buy it based on that mockup. Now once we see in hand pics, things may change but I doubt it.

if it has the title on the spine im in.
if it doesn't then im out.
I have the 3 film set from the us but have no interest in the 2nd and 3rd films - just the first one.
to have it in a steelbook would be awesome - just need transformers the movie then to complete my childhood favourites in stelbook form (to go with Robocop, Edward scissorhands, and back to the future)

I used to hold this opinion. Now, almost four hundred Steelbooks later, I wonder why I ever did. Instead of building a collection of premium editions, I have built a collection of some really nice Steelbooks but also a lot of mediocre ones and some downright terrible ones. I really regret it now and wish I had been more selective.

Apparently this is true - most grain removed and images compromised with it - lack of detail, heavy handed DNR, washed out colours.

If that wasn't bad enough, even the American one isn't that good - only rating a 3.8 on a very well known blu site that if I name will be removed :)

Shame, I really wanted this in the collection.

The UK bluray looks fantastic. Best picture quality it has ever had

Yeah but there's the problem - at least two people here have said "apparently" it is bad quality. That's just passing on another person's opinion without seeing it for yourself. I've been a fan since the film was made and seen every version and this is the best. Don't let other people put you off.

If you compare the technical specs though

uK 1080i interlaced transfer with lossy Dolby Digital 5.1

Against

US 1080p progressive with Lossless Dolby TrueHD 5.1

The US does exceed the UK disc

A review of the UK disc in question can be found here

The fact that due to the 1080i transfer that this release suffers from the dreaded 4% speedup results in the audio being higher pitched that it should be. Personally can't stand out of pitch audio so its a definite no go for me

1080i sends us back into the realms of The Fearless Vampire Killers - which does show its limitations. Afraid the high pitch audio would kill me - not an ocd thing, but purely practical.

According to the review mentioned they are also heavily compressed at an average of just 16gig - so any idea of true high def goes out of the window right there.

I imagine if you watch it on a 720p or a cheap 1080p then they may look reasonable; but higher up the food chain the limitations will likely show due to the high compression rate.
