how its always been with Embossed steels. Where as debossed steels only dont need the border inlet.

Only a few have snuck by withotu the border. Roger Rabbit for one.

Correct about Roger Rabbit, but then if you think about it, one could make a case the the "border" on Roger Rabbit was just moved in toward the center of the front cover. The framed image in the center is debosssed, then the car and characters are embosssed back up. Technically, it's the same idea just on a smaller and more centralized scale. This is one of the reasons (among several others) that the Roger Rabbit steel is so cool looking.

War of the Worlds is one that has a gloss finish & debossed border. Plus the Mission Impossible steels 1-3 of the top of my head, to name a few...;)

Why do people keep talking about a 'debossed border'? The border's one of the few bits that's NOT debossed!

How many of those complaining about matt vs gloss finishes will actually be opening this steel?

Yah we know that mate, but what else is a quick easy way to refer to it then?

Shall we call it the "only part of the front that is not debossed" border. :hilarious:

I was just about to say the same thing "umm the debossed middle section...bit"

I'm still trying to figure out how im going to play this thing with a region B locked PS3 so I probably wont be opening it!

That was a typo mistake on my iPad should have been embossed..

Plus no one is complaining about the finish on T2 so stop getting your nickers in a twist over nothing...:movie:

Be cool if the eyes glowed like on T2 Skull ed :scat: I think they may have added the boarder to differentiate it even further from UK ed (though it has plenty of other goodies for me to have tempted me into clicking the 'order' button, haha!

I hope so, I really do.

Retailors should opt for a glossy finish, rather than a debossed border. Actually, I feel the whole debossed border has lost its appeal.

You can never go wrong with a glossy finish. Why?
First, a glossy finish makes the colors on a steel shimmer. Where as a matte finish the colors are dull, boring, and even poor (paint chips). Also, the art tends to look livelier and refreshing.
Second, a solid glossy finish will not chip as easily. Members have reported receiving Commando and Black Swan with paint chips.

At this point, I'm starting to think a gloss finish is more expensive than a debossed border.

Of course it is mate. Why do you think Warner Bros made the 2D Hobbit matte and the 3D glossy?

Were HDN members supposed to mention that they were posters in the forums when ordering this? Was there something said in this thread about HDN members getting special treatment by the shippers somehow? I didn't mention I was a poster here on my order

Try 'border'

Funny, but that still doesn't give a name to steels with a border that's not debossed while the rest of the cover is, which is what we were discussing and what Wreck was referring to with "border inlet."

At any rate... it really matters not, does it. In the end, who cares.

Per the Kimchi site's description their 'Limited Ed' comes with postcards and exclusive sticker. The rest of the retailers selling the title, like Yesasia will still be the same Steel and slip, just no postcards, from I saw. So whether you order while on this site or not, the package from them is the same.
