I added a lenticular to my basket, browsed for other products to buy, then went to check out to realise it was sold out! Thought adding this to a basket would secure me to checkout for at least a minute. Lesson learned!

I think it is quite rediculous how all these can be sold out within minutes. Will wait for the cancellations.

lol seriously?!?
you're in the steelbook collecting game for so long, but figured that out just now in 2016?

Nope, just stating how ridiculous it is and it always will be. I remember iron man play.com didn't even sell out in minutes. Took a week or so.

You have to remember
The available print run is less and split between Local and International
Local pre order was the previous day
International pre order was the next day

You then have various group buys and large orders for resellers stock taken from that same shared print run

So on the day the actual available stock for customers to order direct on the international website was in reality not much and when it's a high demand release it will sell out very fast and a good Internet connection and luck is needed

UK releases the retailer has the majority of the stock for the website that makes a difference and have much better websites to handle lot of Internet traffic and less customers compared to Asia/international combined so UK releases take longer to sell out

I'm fully aware Paul how the stock is allocated and the UK internet servers are much different. Severs makes no difference, it would sell out anyway. Luck defines who actually gets the order.

My comparison with Iron man play.com one of my most sought steelbooks took over a week to sell out and there appeared to be no limit of quantity per order. I known members who ordered over ten each which most ended up on eBay.

Here we are talking minutes. Yes I did set an alarm. Even had one in my basket before it vanished. So my experience with ordering a Nova steelbook is as I put it rediculous.

Today I decided to post my opinion and contribute to this thread. I maybe a minority to voice this opinion but I'm glad I have done.

Thank you for responding to my comments. Didn't realise it surprised many of you.

It's not a shock. It just the fact that you are voicing your opinion on the obvious. That is all.

Things have changed since IM have came out. More demand, less product to supply.

It is what it is.

More demand = more to profit from collectors who can never source a copy. Have a look at eBay, listings are up already.

IM was £11. This is £25 and like any Nova steel sells out in minutes.

I will finish my discussion by stating the following. If I cannot log onto my electronic device or desktop at the stated date and time to place an order in as any normal collector would, I deem this as rediculous, regardless of how sought the steelbook is. We all know hundreds of copies will be resold. That is the reality of collecting.

Unfortunately a high demand title will always be exploited by resellers. That is the reality of collecting.

If I 'snoozed and lose' I accept that. But this isn't my experience with Nova. Luck determines who's orders are accepted. Regardless even if my order is accepted, I still think the whole experience is rediculous that 'luck' defines who is eligible to order, more like a roulette ball spinning on a wheel.

My learning points, either don't order from Nova which I have avoided in the past, or join the GB.

To those that were 'lucky' enough to source a copy congratulations, including the resellers as they would have to be lucky as well.

My opinion finished. I rarely post on this forum so see you next year. Feel free to PM before the MODs intervene and we can discuss this in essay depth, that includes you Paul :)

That's what I said ... ordering off the site ESPECIALLY 1 clicks is like playing the lottery. It's not first come first served. It's whoevers connection is accepted via Novas server.

Well said both of you, spot on.

My suggestion would be to discuss it further in the Nova Media thread, as opposed to the separate release threads, as messages can go unnoticed if they're in the release threads.

...of course, not missed by me or the others subscribed to the release threads, who get an email each time someone else moans... :bored:

You know, I don't recall there being THAT much hype for this release. I believe comparisons to the inevitable FAC release and dislike of the artwork chosen by Nova were some of the reasons for this yet now the actual live preorder has come and gone everyone is out with their pitchforks for Novamedia. It's crazy.

I mean, are people really comparing this release to Plays Iron Man? Back then blu ray steelbooks weren't even a thing, it was just a fancy case for the film you may pay a couple of quid extra for. If we all knew then what we now then we'd all have lapped them up, same for HMV Captain America and Thor.

With only X amount of these copies being made, what, a couple of thousand then people were always going to miss out, GB's or not. It really is just luck. You can say group buys decrease the chances of getting a copy direct which is an obvious fact, but now these people who failed on the nova website are bitching about having to go to ebay and pay an inflated price, which would be more than actually going with @Aniv 's group buy and paying that bit more to secure a copy.

Well said. Went with the group buy and sat back and waited for people going mad about it. I was on phone to SBC at the time when it went live and he was telling me people now ordering from him like crazy.
