Why is it so hard to give us a steelbook with the original art and more importantly the right font? I don't think I've ever had a proper T2 cover, even my VHS was some odd side on affair. Mind you we haven't even got True Lies or the Abyss on Blu Ray yet - for such an acclaimed director the studios don't have **** about with his films.

Got mine today, it's nice albeit unfinished. No inside artwork for a UK steelbook is unforgivable

Nothing on the spine and no inside art. And I thought the last T2 effort was weak. This could be an all time low for Zavvi steelbooks. Very disappointed.

I actually think the front and back are nice with the gloss boss on matte design
But no inlay artwork and spine, has T2 steelbooks ever had a inlay?
Guess I could make one, any design ideas guys?

I think we have to admit that there is no definitive steelbook for this film yet - a steelbook that will be universally praised for its artwork and containing the best disc(s) available.

We have the Mondos which, though creative and attractive enough, are not exactly what I'd choose for this film and they will certainly look out of place next the others in the U.K. series unless they do a matching steelbook for each of the other films. These are however the pick of the bunch thanks to their artistic creativity IMO.

The Kimchi is little better than the U.K. 2009 Skynet edition regarding the very similar front image but it does have 'added value' and is without doubt a superior product with embossing/debossing and 'freebies' as well as a very smart embossed slipcover. The U.K. Skynet is flat as a pancake throughout, unfortunately.

The U.S. and Canadian 'Fire' steelbook could have been very effective if it had a gloss instead of a matte finish and it was unnecessary to put the Blu-ray logo on the front and even the title would have been better left off the front and just put on the spine IMO.

The Japan steelbooks are very classy but might be considered too 'plain' for such a big and thunderous film.

IMO the new German and U.K. editions could have been very decent but instead were a wasted opportunity and a massive fail for Studio Canal and if I had the person in charge in front of me I'd ask him/her the following:-
- Why could you not be bothered to put the title on the spine instead of just leaving it naked - it's as if the film doesn't deserve a title ?
- Why did you not even put your logo on the spine because as it stands it looks unfinished and needs to go back to the factory for finishing ?
- Why did you use white for the title across the front top border when it clearly would have been better in silver and embossed not just printed on? White title looks just plain WRONG and out of place.
- Why no inside artwork, or are you just continuing the Skynet tradition ?
- Why no 'freebies' for your U.K. customers or do you value the Germans more than the Brits ? If the Germans get a poster why don't we get something too?

It is in silver, like a raised glossy Metallic print, same with the T-800 head is raised print, it's not flat
And the back T2 is the same but in Black

Cancelled mine for 2 reasons.

1 - It looks awful
2 - I pre ordered this the first day and some people have actually received theirs and mine hasn't even been despatched. F you Zavvi

Never ordered it because of your 1st reason

Yes, you are quite correct - I've just had another look at a different angle and in a different light and I see that it is silver after all with a sort of speckled effect.
I can't take off the shrinkwrap however (because I have to return it for a refund) to double-check but the title near the top on the front does not feel raised or embossed to me.

I think we should accept that those people prepared to pay GBP 60 - 70 for a single steelbook are very much in the minority.

My argument was from a design perspective only. The exclusive version only had 1500 copies worldwide. There was also a non exclusive version. Valuations aside, the Kimchi / Korean edition seems to tick all the boxes for me. There is also the mondo edition released in Canada that looks quite nice.

Feel like i've been mugged.

I was so sure........ this was never gonna be produced without the name on the spine. The pictures on Zavvi were just out of date!

I am still in disbelief actually. Maybe those of us who are still waiting for dispatch (even though i pre-ordered right away) will receive a special one that has a printed spine, and a poster, and the newer encode with less dnr. Tongue in cheek of course.

My annoyance is that i'm gonna have to keep this piece of crap because i've been collecting Terminator editions fo a while now. I'm not sure i will even want to put it on the shelf. I will always resent it and wish it didn't exist.

This was quite expensive for something that offers almost nothing new or improved. Shame on you StudioCanal, or Zavvi, or whoever is to blame for this abomination.

If you have the space I think it would look quite ok on one of those acrylic steelbook stands designed to show off the main front image as part of a shrine to the 'Terminator' films if that's your thing.
On the other hand you could 'lose' it on your steelbooks shelving although upon closer inspection it would be instantly recognisable as when all's said and done how many steelbooks do you have with nothing at all on the spine . . ?

I think I made my feelings clear about these two releases in post 548 although I feel that what something is worth is of prime importance and must be addressed too.

Nah its not embossed, more like a thick print layer, if you get what I mean.

If the steelbook turns out to be exactly as the German steelbook its not going to change anything

I'm keeping my order anyway and if its turns out different in some way that's better then that a gain
If its as expected the same then its not going to be a surprise or unexpected

I just cancelled my order and got my reply back order cancelled
I'm glad my order was not despatched like some others and did not have payment taken as that meant I was able to cancel my order

:D :D ;)
