Wasn't going to get this one but with the gloss it looks stunning in the pics. Thanks guys for posting them. Zavvi's picture doesn't seem to do it justice.

I was holding my breath, had a few damaged steels the last time, but... this was in mint condition. And a new packaging, a bit like Play used to do. Not the best, but much better than the enveloppe without any protection for the steel. Nice steelbook it is!

Just got arisocats with paint loss around the border, will be sending this back for a replacement. A part from that the steel is very nice.
Sorry I can't show a photo, it keeps saying the photo is too large and I have no idea how to make it smaller:-(

So did you send it back? I'm wondering if I got yours

Don't know if I'm going to return it. I imagine it's quite a hassle to send it back to the UK.
I'm going to contact them though.

that isn't the one I sent back but very close, that's the excact same type of paint loss I had on the border too but mine was on the right hand side,it was all over the sides aswell.. in about 6 different places on the steel. I had a hell of a time sending that back though. I sent it back for a replacement, they decided to send it in a cardboard envelope and it was dented in a few places, so I sent it back for another replacement which they sent in another envelope which got damaged .. so I sent the third one back for a replacement and they refunded me instead,so I had to wait for that to go into my bank and ordered my forth arisotocats steelbook which they sent in a box and was undamaged. . It took around a month of emails and posting the steelbooks back and forth before I got an undamaged copy.. it was my worst dealings I've ever had with zavvi.. think I cancelled a lot of pre orders after that as the least amount I deal with zavvi the better, I was getting a lot of damaged stock from them at the time.

You said you're unsure if you should bother sending it back. . I think of it like this, if I pay around £20 for a steelbook then I expect it to be perfect.. if I spend £5-10 then I will let a few minor imperfections go. The thing that annoyed me with the aristocats was that I'd only half taken the SB out of the box and I noticed the paint loss immediately and zavvi's people would have seen it too, and didn't care that I'd paid good money and expected a good quality item.. They shouldn't get away with sending obviously damaged stock to customers (and a collectors item too).. if you're not in the UK then its gonna be an even bigger hassle to send it back, if you are in the US,then after a few emails of declining their offers of a partial refund they will send you a replacement and you won't have to send the copy you have back.
I didn't buy aristocats for myself but for a ninja who lives in the EU.. he was very thankful for all the trouble I went too lol..

I had 4 aristocats and 3 out of the 4 were damaged, the steelbook will become very rare as the undamaged copies are only 1 in 4 in my case lol

Apologies for the long post. . This was a particularly bad transaction with zavvi and they're not always that bad. :):):)

it doesnt matter what you spend, if you are buying something 'new,' you would expect to get it new. new= perfect condition. sure if you take a vase off a production line and throw it on the floor, its still a new vase, but its also a smashed vase. same applies if a steelbook is scratched or bent. its damaged!

zavvi need to do more to ensure their products reach customers still in a new condition. scratches, dents and dings are what happens to steels with use and age.. nobody should be receiving new steels in that condition.

it doesnt help that zavvi's return policy is so convoluted it makes it a hassle to return anything to them, plus the fact they turn the whole thing into a fiasco by making you insulting partial refund offers and requests to take pictures etc. it makes you not want to bother going through that ordeal and makes you feel like you are being fussy or picky.

but if you bought a new vase, would you accept it if it came cracked?

Lol about the vase analogy. . If zavvi was to sell a vase then I'm sure they would do just that. . Throw it on the floor then pick it up and still package it out to you:smashed: they don't care about their customers they just care about their income. I 100% agree with what you said, the only reason I don't contact them over lower price steels is cos they're a bloody nightmare to deal with.. I'm sure their customer services are set up purposely that way to make us not want to bother.. which really annoys me and is a big reason I don't shop with them no where near as much as I used to. If it was uk amazon then I would return any priced faulty item cos they send out new items even before you've returned the faulty one. . And they don't ask you to provide photo evidence. . Zavvi is ridiculous! My post will likely get moved to the zavvi thread, apologies mods:bag:
