im finding it very hard to believe that all 4000 copies are gone on release day.
This is quite a popular cult horror though. People have been asking for this to be released for a while. It wouldn't suprise me if they had sold out.

Yes, I was dead surprised when all retailers stopped selling this steelbook on or around the same day but also pleasantly relieved when about 100/150 copies came back on around 1 PM last Thursday at HMV and Amazon before disappearing again at some point before 10:50 AM the next day.
I'm thinking this is the first time for an Arrow steelbook to sell out before release date.
I'm also thinking "Where are the Zavvi cancelllations ?

i'l be astonished if its actually sold out. there have been much 'bigger' films that have not sold out so fast, including disney classics. i know people keep saying its because its a cult film, but there are many many titles with blockbuster, mainstream appeal that dont even sell out with half the print run.

big trouble in little china is the only arrow steel i know that has been hard to come by. and even that was in stock for months

disney classics and "blockbuster" movies you mentioned all had a standard blu-ray release long before the steelbook was out. "the burning" is a title many cult film collectors were wishing for many years to be released in region B (the scream factory release is region A locked). also, many US collectors bought this steelbook too it seems.

and "big trouble..." is BY FAR not the only rare arrow steelbook out there, look at the prices for zombie flesh eaters, or most of the zavvi exclusive arrow steels (like "city of the living dead" or "phenomena").
this may be the first one to be sold out on release date, but i am not surprised about it in this very special case. ;)

edit: if the zavvi cancellations aren't up within the next days, my guess is they save their rest stock for some halloween special in a couple of weeks. ;)

I bet the fact that the standard amaray is a few months behind has contributed to this selling out as well. People want to see it!

It is currently in stock at Amazon only 8 left get in quick mate.
Looks like those 8 that were about £28 shipped I think is all gone. This will unfortunately go for silly prices in 3 months time. Well unfortunate for the ones that missed out. Fortunate for those that have a copy as its worth more now, no disrespect to those that missed out (@StifflersDad)

Can anyone tell me which is the best one between this and the U.S. Scream Factory one?

I know this has more extras but how does the transfer compare? Or are they identical?

i read from several people in forums that it's the same transfer/master but with a better encoding (less digital artifacts) and more bonus features. arrow's version is the one to get.

Yes, a very reasonable notion . . . and could also be holding a number back to replace damaged copies (if you don't share the belief that a reported print run of 4,000 actually means up to say 4,300 printed with the excess to cover damage replacements).
I'm thinking that the quick sellout was more to do with resellers "filling their boots" and I'm expecting one of two things to happen next:-
(1) Zavvi cancels multiple orders of 10 or more copies with those copies to be made available again either on their site or at their eBay Outlet . . . but maybe priced higher (@GBP 29.99) ;)
or
(2) Zavvi leaves in place the multiple orders and these appear in blocks on the bay - something that conspicuously hasn't happened yet with the highest number available from any one seller being 5 - leading to letters from disgruntled Arrow fans to Arrow HQ and a lot of bad blood.

Just checked on my order on HMV online and it shows OOS :banghead::banghead::banghead::angry::angry::angry:

This happend to me when I ordered the hateful eight steel from HMV. It came back in stock for like 10 mins so I stuck an order in. It then showed as out of stock on my order but I rang hmv and they said I should have one within 2 weeks. Well about 1 week later I received a dispatch email so it may be worth keeping your order and seeing what happens

When you sat checkout, do you mean complete the transaction. Going through to checkout still shows £23.15?
When you review your details just before you press 'buy now' at the end. My order confirmation email says £20.30
Last i looked it now has changed to in stock on 15th Oct
**UPDATE
And now it's gone :wow:
