I can see things turning nasty for Zavvi in the coming months. It seems the vast majority of members here are cancelling their pre-orders. Zavvi think they are improving sales and clearing stock by dropping prices, in fact it is probably having the completely opposite effect on their business.

I'm just about to watch 'Dead Silence' also by Conjuring director James Wan.

I'd never heard of it up until a couple of week's ago. Looks like it might be my cup of tea!! It's got more creepy dolls in it!! :ohno:

This was what I was worried about. . There seem to be a few threads where most of the posts say "cancelled waiting for price drop".. They may well of shot themselves in the foot with all these price drops too soon after people have just recieved their pre orders.

I think a lot of the catalogue releases seem to not sell too well, the conjuring is a new release and limited to "4000"(not sure the limit of 4000 means much anymore) so there is a chance this may sell a bit better than other titles but with all these cancellations zavvi may well be dropping the price by the new year if not before.

I'm getting this as a christmas present but if I was paying for this myself I think I would wait a few weeks and see if the price comes down.. great film tho and is worth having in anyones collection who are fans of this genre:D

Zavvi may be having a rethink already, I think it's been pointed out that their only announced exclusives for next year so far are pretty much Disney/Pixar ones and a few Kubrick titles.

I think you may over estimate the amount members on this forum actually make up from zavvi steelbook sales, I cant imagine they will be to worried.

I can understand why people cancelling but I waited too longer for this after US release so want it NOW! ha ha

If I wasn't getting this as a gift I don't know how long I personally could wait for a price drop cos I enjoyed this film so much first time round that I can't wait to see it again:movie: I may open my xmas pressie a bit early this year:D

It is not unreasonable to think that the average Steelbook collector is feeling just as annoyed as most members here are. You don't need a site like this to notice price drops when Zavvi send you emails saying 'Is this what you were looking for?' featuring adverts for Steelbooks you just bought for twice the price  :hilarious:

It doesn't take too much working out that if everybody cancels then a price drop is inevitable. CANCELLED along with all other Zavvi pre orders

It will probably drop in price like Evil Dead did, but I feel this might be a Byzantium so I'm happy to order it now. The way I justify purchases are, if I really wanted to see it in the cinema but couldnt get to it, it is sometimes even cheaper than buying a cinema ticket in London.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is another disappointing, drap, boring, matt-finish like this weeks Superman.
Picked up the US with lenticular slip on Black Friday for less than a fiver! :scat:

That's a pretty short sighted view. If everybody cancelled all of their pre-orders then who knows what could happen. Zavvi could change their pricing policy or they could stop producing Steelbooks if they are no longer profitable enough. As someone who would like to see this hobby last a while longer, it is a slightly worrying situation at least in terms of the UK market, especially with the Sainsbury's announcement not too long ago.

Somebody else would pick up the slack if Zavvi dropped steels. Everybody panicked when HMV shut down. Careful what you wish for.
