Not everyone's into this flick as it scares them. I love it as it was very well made that story was good and the acting was very good. It ooozes atmosphere.
its rare to come across a horror movie that genuinely scares me now, although I did watch the Blair Witch Project last night and the thought of been in that situation that they were in is pretty scary lol, but all this paranormal stuff in houses has been done to death and I'm just bored with it now

The Exorcist is one of the best horror movies IMO and I don't think I'm alone in that thinking
The Exorcist It plays on your mind with different results you may get from watching the film depending on your religious beliefs and your age
It did not need any gore or blood shocks it was Hitchcock style of suggestion ( supernatural)and good use of special effects
The special effect for its time were fantastic and lot of viewers didn't realise Max von Sydow was only 44 and thought he was 74 as he looked in the movie
Amazing acting and a must see if you not watched
It may have aged a bit over time and not be as scary as it was when first seen
As a film it transcends the genre of terror, horror, and the supernatural into 1 film
If you have religious beliefs especially Christian the film effects you in a way you don't want to believe what your viewing can happen
(Back when first released the Catholic Church noted lot of viewers flocking to go back to mass on a Sunday and they praised the film which was rare for the Church to do so with a horror film)
40 Years later its not as scary compared with modern horror which uses gore and shock some which is tasteless
The Exorcist is still is a classic 40 years later as is the original Dracula or Frankenstein as without these films we might not have got the later classics we come to like
Modern medicine has replaced devils with paranoia and schizophrenia, Medicine may have changed or views but the movie hasn’t it makes you think what your viewing is real and there is the scare part
The Conjuring is ok as a horror/supernatural movie and will give you a scare but its not anywhere close to the brilliance of The Exorcist
This Steelbook looks good but I will wait for a price drop and extras are very poor with this release
•A Life in Demonology (HD, 16 minutes): Director James Wan and other participants (among them Lorraine Warren and audio recordings of the late Ed Warren) provide an overview of the lives, faith, research and investigative career of the Warrens. The featurette also explores the Warrens' personal collection of the haunted, cursed or ritualistic items they've acquired during various cases over the years, and touches on the development of the film.
•The Conjuring: Face-to-Face with Terror (HD, 7 minutes): "Logic tells you that something is immaterial cannot really hurt you. I still feel threatened... I feel threatened." Roger, Carolyn, Nancy, Andrea, April, Cindy and Christine Perron recall the strange supernatural events that began when they moved into the infamous farmhouse depicted in the film. Lorraine Warren shares her own memories of the house, its ghostly inhabitants, and her time with the Perrons.
•Scaring the '@$*%' Out of You (HD, 8 minutes): The art of scaring audiences, the inspiration for The Conjuring, and Wan's command of the tone, atmosphere, suspense, sounds and rhythm of horror
I would not be surprised if at later stage there is another release with more extras
I never really understood the Exorcist fascination either. Maybe it had to be seen on release but I don't find it frightening at all, quite funny infact. It's a good movie for sure but in terms of sheer horror the conjuring got under my skin a lot more.
the Exorcist is one of the very best horror movies ever made, the impact it had back then when released and still to this day is nothing we are ever likely to see happen again, from a horror movie anyway, there's people who don't even like the mention of the movie
Not true at all, I'm not in religious and I don't believe in possession/superstitious but I like horror movies... and The Exorcist is one of my favorite movies of all time... anyway let's focus to the thread... The Conjuring Steelbook
The problem with The Exorcist, for me anyway, is that when I first watched it about 10 years ago I didn't find it scary at all. No doubt that when it was first shown it was scary but it's a film that I didn't find scary one bit, although I appreciate it as being one of horrors most defining movies.
I saw it when I was quite young and it scared the crap out of me like nothing ever has since. But then back in 1931 the original Dracula has audiences fainting from fright too. I think the problem is that horror movies just don't date very well and what seemed scary 40 years ago seems laughable now. The Conjuring draws on several generations more of filmmaking so it's a lot more sophisticated for a modern audience. Not sure it'll ever reach the classic status of The Exorcist though.
