I think it's a metaphor for the human skull that descends into hell or something to that affect.
That's what I take from it but it's open to different interpretations

Actually the back and the inside are from the movie. It is the photoshopped front that doesn't make sense to me.

I don't mind unique unofficial artwork, so the front is cool to me.

And I know they are from the movie, but that doesn't change the fact they are ugly as ****.

Actually the front is the poster artwork when it released. Also this isn't the first time it's been used either. Australia's amaray used this artwork too when it released in 2008.
