The Ebay Seller/Policies Discussion Thread

Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

I think these pre orders should be banned from ebay. I see welee doing it all the time as well as another person in California. If they dont stop doing it I am just going to undercut them out of business and flood the market. I can do that as I have over 3700 steels in stock right now with about 500 on pre order.

guys please beware on ebay member porcayo_usa he was mentioned also by top_cat2
ive bought an item from him a scarface wooden box with steel inside and he claimed to be perfectly sealed etc
i received the item damaged outside and marks inside clearly showing usage even though the item was actually sealed (the stickers holding the box together on the sides where open-for those who know the item) i contacted him and gave me a partial refund over the item.
then i opened it and saw one of the items (green card of TM) was missing so clearly it was opened as i suspected
i opened a case and he has refunded me even though i asked for a replacement (he gave me a choice of sending it back and refund or sending it back for replacement) and he didnt refund the full amount
so beware of this seller he is scumming people
now as i see he had relisted the item 50% higher price than what i bought

i have sold an UK bundle 2 weeks ago (10 steelbooks) on ebay. The buyer was happy with that transaction and let me a positive feed.

i have just received a mail from him saying that he has sold 6 steels that he bought from me and one of them has been refused from his buyer coz damaged. Now he wants me to refund him saying that damage has happened in my sale. if i don't refund him he will open a case through ebay.

what do you advise me? i can post here his email if necessary

he should of thought of that before he left you positive feedback, i don't think he has a case
most likely it got damaged when he posted it to the other buyer, that should be his problem not yours

His buyer is probably one of the undesirables we've seen mentioned previously claiming for non-existent damage. He's bought from you and been happy with what he received, what happens after that is none of your concern.

he packaged the steel in bubble wrap and bubble letter. No visible damage on the package so he says that comes in my sale.

i have carefully checked state of each of my steel and everybody here knows how i packed my steels. Personally i always send steelbook in a cardboard and bubble wrap, i have no trust in any postal service.

what can i do?

thanks

thanks

Edit: he has sold 35£ to his buyer and ask me to refund that amount otherwise i have sold to him a bundle.

Im not sure if he can (probably can if i had to guess) but the fact that he left you positive feedback is something you can use in your advantage if he opens a case.

Has it been 45 days since the sale ?

keep all the messages he sent about reselling your steels, if he opens a case show them to pay pal or ebay, they should ask him if it was damaged in the first place why did he resell it

i suppose he would pretend that he did not have seen it.

here is his mail:

Hi,

You may not have been expecting to hear from me again but unfortunately I have a fault with one of the items that you have sold me.

I have got your e-mail address from my PayPal payment confirmation.

I am a experienced steelbook collector and so already owned some of the steelbooks in your collection which you sold me. It was my original intention to keep 6 steelbooks that I needed and sell 4.

One of the steelbooks that I sold has got a fault. Its the Predator Steelbook.
Attached is some pictures that the buyer has sent to me which show the damage.
The buyer has stated to me that:
- My packaging to them was excellent. (5 layers of bubblewrap.)
- There is no damage to the packaging, as seen in the photos which rules out damage in the post.
- The buyer could not see the damage before they opened it as the slipcase was covering it.
- The buyer believes that the item was damaged at manufacture and is not the seller's fault. After seeing the photos I believe this as well.

I don't think me or you are responsible for the damage to this item.
But according to eBay policy sellers are responsible for their listings. If it is listed as new/sealed and is faulty then its not an accurate description. As i've already said I don't think its your fault but i'm only going by eBay policy.
I am doing the right thing in asking the item to be returned to me and I will then give a full refund to my buyer.

At this time I would also like to ask for a refund. I am aware that you sold me 10 items in total so I have already asked eBay for help in this matter in what should happen.
I'm sure you wouldn't want all 10 items returned to you. Therefore I would like to return the one item.
eBay has stated to me that it would be up to us to decide a value of the steelbook. If no agreement can be met then they would decide a valuation.
I don't intend to me unfair on this. I know some steelbooks in the collection are worth more than others. I think the Predator Steelbook would be about halfway on the list.
The figure which I sold the steelbook for is £35.75
I think this is a fair figure to go on. I know the original cost would have been less but the auction price (what I paid) reflects market value and not retail value.
As per eBay's policy I would also ask for the postage cost to be included to return the item to you.

On a side note, I have purchased a game from Play.com before. I didn't open and play it for 6 months. After an hour of playing the game stopped working and wouldn't start again. The disc was faulty. I contacted Play and they said that the item was guranteed for 30 days from them. Because I hadn't opened and played the game and contacted them within 30 days they said they weren't liable. I lost £30 from that game and it wasn't even my fault. Its the chance that we take when we don't 'test' things by opening and playing them.
If 45 days had past between me buying these items and contacting you then I would have lost out on this as eBay covers items for 45 days.

To summarise I would like to know if you accept my request of a refund.
If I don't hear from you within 5 days or the response is to decline the refund then I hope you understand I will then open a case in the eBay Resolution Centre.

Thank you for your time.

EDIT: this is his feedback: Great items as described. Packaging excellent. Great seller. A+++++

Lets get this straight this guy buys off you, then sells on to another person how is that then your responsibility or problem for any damages.

If he has decided to refund his customer then that's his responsibility when he bought off you he was happy hence why he left you feedback.

Contact Ebay and emphasise that when you sold your item to him it was mint and he even left you feedback to confirm that. Hopefully ebay and Paypal should apply common sense here.

Good luck buddy.

What's this dudes username?

yes i have pics in a word document.

pic of the bubble letter (it has been not sent in a cardboard) and pics of (now) opened steel that clearly shows it has been dropped down.

i will post them tomorrow.
thanks

I don't think there is anything he can do. If he wants his money back make him return the entire package you sent him. Since he already sold off much of it, he would then need to reacquire all of those.

Do NOT offer a partial refund for the single steel. Do NOT offer anything else other than him to return the ENTIRE lot you sold him for his $ back.

This guy doesn't have a leg to stand on Laurent after leaving you this feedback:

Great items as described. Packaging excellent. Great seller. A+++++ Seller: laurent31300 ( 210) Mar-20-13 13:01

Also the fact he sold on your items after leaving that feedback proves your not at fault.

I've put this guy on my block list now....

I don't think the guy has anything to stand on against Laurent. You couldn't have seen damage underneath the slip or paper back. You sell sealed and described as mint, because the rest of the product was mint. Moreover, if he returns an opened item then you are at a loss, you sold it sealed and you should expect it sealed.

If anything ask for all items back and not partial refund! If he doesn't return all the Steelbooks then there shouldn't be a refund.
