Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

Hey guys, this thread is meant as a 'discussion' thread for any poor experiences you feel you have had on Ebay. The site cannot keep a list and keep watch on final outcomes of trades happening on other marketplaces, as our Trading Mods are working with our own members if issues arise with trades at HDN. Much of this is highly subjective. If a person becomes known as a habitual 'scammer' through a variety of channels, we will of course consider adding them to the 'Bad Trader' list in our other thread, as a community warning.

I may list a bad buyer if my outcome turns out sour, either way this buyer seems to leave negative feedbacks for fun.

I await the worst ;( expensive item sent to

(English and French are bad as each other after last nights :( )

Yep, not a great year, 2013... :emb:

That's even worst if we talk about Football, for French... To score a goal is too much for our great attacker(s) :(

Edit : I was thinking that you were talking about rugby... I didn't know that England made a draw with Montenegro yesterday ! France vs England for play-off game ? :D

A quick question if anyone can help, sorry if its in the wrong thread.

If a customer requests to pay out of eBay by bank transfer and is requesting my BIC and SWIFT CODE is this safe to accept?

I wouldn't, I don't think you'd be protected by PayPal OR eBay if the funds aren't "available"

Thanks for the reply mate but I would only deliver if I saw the money is clear and available.

What I'm trying to say is can the money be reversed in this method of payment after delivering the Steelbook ?

To be honest, it cant be reversed (i dont think it can anyway).
best thing would be to get him in writing to say he is going to put via bank transfer and then also keep a reference of his transaction

I have a question about preorders. I have seen someone list Withnail and I already on ebay. It's not out for 3 months(90 days).

If I bought it and paid, then the seller didn't deliver, I would be **** out of luck right?

How does ebay allow this practice?

After 60 days you can't leave feedback anymore on eBay for a seller. And 45 days after a payment you can't start a dispute at PayPal.

So you will hang on both sides.

Never understood how they can 'sell' something they don't actually own/have in hand - wouldn't it be easier to get a Ninja to help you out? ( or is this OOS already?)

nonononono.. I would never buy a preorder off of ebay.. I was merely asking a question.. and no, this isn't sold out yet, and yes, if it came down to it, I would ask help here before heading there.

I wrote to eBay about this practice a few weeks ago, as I hate to see people getting completely ripped off. Unsurprisingly, customer support were less than helpful.

However, I do believe an item that is not available at time of purchase is supposed to be available IIRC within 30 days. Some relevant sections from the pre-sale policy: "This is a breach of eBay’s Pre-Sale Listings policy because you will not be able to dispatch the item within 30 days after the listing closes.", and "For event tickets only, sellers can specify a dispatch time of 45, 60 or 90 days."

Obviously, that is not happening here and they are essentially breaking the eBay terms with pre-orders of that length, but you'd probably have to go around reporting them all. And even then, they don't really have an option to select that is relevant to what you're reporting.
