Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

Has anyone ever had any success claiming from Royal Mail without the original postage receipt?, obviously the tracking information is available but it does clearly state you need to send the original proof of posting :tear: i had all of the stuff ready to go the other day and i think the kids may have napped it or it's got lost.

I noticed the ebayer mentioned most recently (nmo2012) and my first lost tracked package is also with that user, coincidence? Probably, but he was still trying to buy items from me when these 4 went missing which i found strange. Also he was trying to negotiate a different steelbook from me during the claim process under 2 different ebay usernames. I found out as his 2nd ebay name was his 1st ebay usernames registered paypal email address. Kick in the nuts now that i seem to have lost the receipt to claim for only half of the value i lost anyways. I have also never witnessed anyone open up a claim via ebay so quickly but that could be normal practice.
He is a member with no posts here and i would like to say this isn't an accusation! A very nice learning experience going forward and i would like to say thanks to him  I banned him from bidding on my things just to be safe.

I have the same problem with the same buyer as well, sent the item tracked but its lost? lol. Never had a tracked item lost before. The buyer opens a claim after ten days without contacting me. I provided tracking and when he escalated the case I refunded him but ebay are now looking into the case first. Maybe they discovered something fishy about him :naughty:

Either way he is on my block list now nmo2012.

Some posties do not obtain signature even when sent by Signed-for delivery. So even if the item was received, recipient can still make a fake claim. I used to live in an apartment with conceirge desk which collects all the parcels. The postie seldom asks for signature. This means the tracking data will always show as "Item being progressed through our network for delivery".

Massive coincidence now mate, and the address wasn't business or flats if I recall. Perhaps he's his own postman!

I call road trip! :naughty:

I'll add the other eBay username when I get a chance and maybe pm his registered hdn name to a mod here?

That's possible mate. If you push Royal Mail hard they may eventually assign some 007s to find out if postie has been stealing and making false claims.:ohno:

It once happened to me with a DHL guy who signed himself outside my apartment complex and took the parcel but was caught red-handed by the CCTV camera.

Ok the other username which was used to contact me negotiating more steelbooks whilst the ones i lost were supposedly lost in transit is:
ijaz23

so if anyone has had any problems with this username it would be very nice to hear from you. If you have dealt with nmo you should notice the similarity with the paypal address...unless he's changed it.

i really wish i hadn't lost my receipt, customer services from RM are no help once you finally get past that stupid automated woman who cannot distinguish letters from one another.
I'm tempted just to send the form off with all the ebay/paypal proof + tracking number and hope for the best.

Edit: My own postie will always leave me signed for goods somewhere safe but i would never consider fraud, he's doing me a massive favour at the end of the day and scammers really are gutter sludge in my opinion.

If we had a few ebay item numbers and royal mail ref numbers all gone missing to the same person can we not put them together and submit a complaint to paypal/police/post office or something against this nmo2012 ? ive sent a couple of messages this morning to them regarding my parcel that got lost and refunded 2 weeks ago and told them im on to them and will take it further, awaiting a responce. Might shake them up knowing a few people have got together and are on to them.

EDIT including me we have at least 3 members that have had tracked steelbooks go missing to this same address/person does anyone here know what actions we can take against nmo2012 i think contacting ebay or royal mail with a list of ref numbers and item numbers that have gone missing to the same address would be a good start. Any help or advice would be great and if anyone else has any missing parcels to let us know, surely we can do something.

So what happened to the fraudster? Did the police get involved, lost his job?

Do you guys fancy forwarding me your case numbers and i will contact ebay with them all together. He may have several other issues or claims that are not highlighted here or are not members of HDN.

I would be a fool to think that ebay would bother helping us in any way shape or form but we may help somebody else from potentially getting scammed.
Of course there is always the possibility that he has a postman who is really terrible at his job and he has lost 3 separate tracked packages from 3 different ninjas, who have never lost packages before and all in the space of the month...

I may message him to see if he wouldn't mind picking me out some lottery numbers.

Sunny,

Last I heard from DHL was that they suspended the employee for a month.

Regarding the nmo guy, I would recommend these options:

1. All affected parties politely talk to eBay and request them to investigate the incidents.

2. If that doesn't work then file police complaint and notify the scammer via email that complaint has been lodged. Hopefully that incites some amount of fear. :dunno:

I already reported him to ebay and chatted to them on the phone about this with other members affected. The more reports we give ebay, then hopefully they can put a stop to it. I don't think any of us will get our money back as it is not as simple as that. We gotta show that he's the scammer and all he has done is stated he hasn't received the packages where tracking reflects this. But we all know there's something dodgy going on behind all this which is why we need to build a case.

In relation to the police we can't prove he's a scammer so they would just refer us to actionfraud who don't do anything anyway lol.

We should all just come and knock on his front door demanding our money back, that be funny :hilarious:

anyone had any dealings with

littlewood12313

to a uni of northampton address.

Item I posted looks to be lost in the post which is fair enough and it happens but I just sold another item to the same name and address but using a new ebay account set up a couple of days ago

Anyone had any issues with pepsimepsi on ebay ?

Bought a SB from him on the 23 February. Paid immediately via PayPal.

Not received anything so I asked for a tracking number.

Got a response saying it was sent recorded.

I asked them to follow up with Royal Mail and got this reply ...

im sorry to here that unfortunately im going on holiday for two weeks im back on the 22nd will get straight on it as soon as i get back many thanks

Delay tactics ?

Should I open a case anyway, or wait until after the 22nd ?

Open a case mate.

There is now only one month that you can make a claim and when hes back the month is up, how convenient!

Cheers

Case opened - Didn't realise it was only a month - thought it was 45 days (maybe that's paypal)

It doesn't matter what the seller says, ALWAYS open a case if the item hasn't been received by the stated delivery date. This ensures that eBay know that the item isn't delivered on time. If it shows up, the case can be closed.

It's better safe than sorry.

In cases where deliveries have been late for me, I've left neutral feedback.
Not negative because the item turned up, but not positive because it was late.

Wish you all the best with this case mate.

ALWAYS open a case, especially when you think the seller is delaying, if he really is away you will probably get your cash back BEFORE he gets back if he doesn't respond, serves him right for not dealing with it promptly.

I bought an item listed as 'Like New'. In the buyer's note, I asked the seller to ensure that the item meets the requirements of Like New and securely pack it.

The seller responds that "the item has some scratches on the back, didn't expect me to be fussy and tells me that I should ask beforehand" as 'Like New' could be interpreted in different ways by different people.

I replied back saying if there were any imperfections they should at least be mentioned in the Item Description or in the listing at least for the sake of transparency.

Regarding the request to pack the item securely, the seller responded that he will put in a car.
