Gotta be real about that, that's about all that's likely to happen. They are "premium", I like wea as much as the next guy, but it won't stop me buying a nice wwa release from hdz, cm, fac etc.
I am being real about it. I don’t buy from fac or CM.
I’m being very real in saying I want a proper premium to tackle it

I get that. I mean be realistic about who is likely to actually release it. The only one's I'd expect to would be FAC or CM.

Nah, Manta and Zeta both have ties with Warner. I can easily see Manta releasing this out of those 2

We need to stop talking about CM in the same breath as premiums. They make slips for WWA. You have to be deluded to call them for that. They’ve made like 2 WEA in 6 years so that defo don’t give them the premium pass either. Their slips may be ok but they aren’t a premium company.

And FA is just tacky sh!t. Move on

I'd be surprised if manta did this. Saying that, I was surprised they did 2001, so who knows. It just doesn't really seem their brand to me, 70s horror.

I have issues with CM and FAC, particularly over the last few years, but they are both in the pot of "premium retailers", and there's nothing we can do about that.

I'm with you on the quality not being anywhere near manta, blufans, weet and hdz gold, but it is what it is. They offer a "premium" package variant, for a steelbook.

We can't discount them due to wwa, or because the extras are naff. You'd have to discount pretty much every dressed up wwa release out there if we were to take that approach.

the difference is those other companies that have done WWA dress ups like manta, nova, blufans and weet are proper premium retailers who release or have released as much WEA as they have WWA (maybe not weet with 15/16 WEAs but a hell of a lot more so than CM)

CM make decent slips, thats it. Nothing more. Goonies is phenomenal. But it’s like their 2nd WEA. Not good enough to pass as a premium retailer imo

I get what you're saying. There is a clear enough difference between a premium steelbook release, and a premium retailer. Goonies is excellent in all fairness to CM. Quality release. What was their other wea? I can only think of that one..

Wasn’t that weird sh!tty b movie horror everyone’s loving at the moment a WEA? Terrifier?

If not and it’s just goonies then calling them a premium retailer is even worse than I originally stated lol

So all that matters to you, and all that makes a company 'premium', is an exclusive steelbook?
Do you only buy the 1/4 slip variants then, or throw out everything that comes with them, but the steelbook?

Steels aren't owned by these companies anyway, studio does, and they can release them again any time they want, like happened to some HDZeta 'exclusives', or how Warner decided to use Matrix for their steelbox, so Manta changed the backs and stuff.

I like the whole package, often the dressing convinces me to buy even an ugly WWA steelbook, and no one, no one does them better, than FilmArena, with CineMuseum, when those function and actually release anything, because only them two have different booklet and photocards in each slip. All the others, Manta, Weet, Nova, are too lazy, and chinese ones, BluFans and HDZeta, are lazy and greedy, having usually only either a booklet or a set of cards in each slip.

You’ve completely missed the whole point

And literally everyone does it better than tacky film arena. Even CM

Oh, terrifier.. no, not really. It was the same Steelbook available tradewide in the US. I think they were the only ones that sold it in Europe though, so people assume it was WEA.

hmm unsure if I will wait for premium edition or just get standard ultimate edition in UK
off topic but the shockingly bad screening reviews of the new movie is such a disappointment!

According to the rogue amazon France listing that has recently appeared, this will contain both cuts of the film, in both 4K and 1080p, with a bonus disc, plus all of the standard UCE goodies.

Thread OP updated with Amazon France link

Live to pre order

Amazon listing is ‎not a import listing
It a release from Warner Bros. Entertainment France

Artwork TBA

Limited Collector's Box
Contains:
Exclusive SteelBook case containing:
. 4K Ultra HD of the film Theatrical version
. 4K Ultra HD of the film Director's Extended version
. Blu-ray of the film Theatrical version
. Blu-ray of the film Director's Extended version
. Bonus Blu-ray
.Goodies TBA

Think france have probably lost specifications in the translation there. I can't see this being a 5 disc steel. Both cuts are likely to be branched, across 4K and 1080p discs, or atleast one will be.

Amazon listing product details lists number of discs 5

Previous Warner Blu-ray releases of the Exorcist the Theatrical and Director's Extended cuts of the film have always been on separate discs (branching was not used)
Each disc also had different extras

Bonus disc likely to be same 3rd disc that was included with 40th Anniversary Edition releases

So it's likely correct will be 5 discs release

I would like if warner has done some new disc extras for the 50th Anniversary

The technical details are still unknown but not the contents and there are indeed 5 discs announced.
