I can tell you that the US edition is pretty good, here's some scans to show you.

I expect UK be same as France Steelbook

Referring to the blu-ray I think @Tompa means the picture quality of the film on this blu-ray.

Blu-ray is the same previous extended directors cut blu-ray disc that's in previous releases worldwide

It's just a repackage of existing disc in a steelbook

What's different between the france release and USA steelbook is the paint finish on the steelbook itself

The reports about the france release is referring to the paint finish of the steelbook compared to USA steelbook
France steelbook has grainy image less paint used compared to USA steelbook

The exorcist has always been a grainy film it's meant to be like that
The grain has been retained as it should be

This is not a film you start using a lot of digital noise reduction to remove grain

Blu-ray of the extended director's cut is the same disc that was included if previously purchased a Blu-ray release of The Exorcist

Only difference of this steelbook release worldwide in terms of discs included and previous Blu-ray releases is it don't include the Theatrical Cut Disc

Going by French customers that have received this steelbook there seems to be a problem . . . was wondering if your friend mentioned to you that it's just the 1973 Theatrical Cut (121 mins) inside his/her steelbook (which is anyway the cut preferred by Mr. Friedkin himself) ...

... despite what's printed on the J-card?

US release is apparently 2 discs instead of 1:-
Disc 1 - Extended Director's Cut (2000) plus Special Features
Disc 2 - Theatrical Cut (1973) plus Special Features

Todays arrival. Fairly uninspiring matt as I expected. But i wanted this copy to watch as I have others sealed. Happy with it, but its no collectors copy imo. I still prefer my Mondo which gets mixed feedback!
