Agree.

Had this preordered and decided enough mediocre Steelbooks is enough, and cancelled. As I've mentioned before, cutting back my preorders with Zavvi big time. Especially as they will probably be struggling to give these away in a few weeks and we should get the inevitable price slash!

I miss the 'glory days' of steelbooks...'Captain America', 'Thor', 'The Green Hornet' etc...steelbooks used to be something to be very excited about- collectible and "Premium" feeling.
As long as people keep insisting the dull, cheap and nasty looking steelbooks, which seem to be the norm nowadays are ok or acceptable, then I'm afraid we'll never again see the quality and truly collectible steelbooks of years gone by.

Received this today with twelve monkeys. These look shocking, and as much as i love these films I am sending them back. Possibly get on a price drop but they are honestly nothing special

My Debossing is also out on this

This will definitely drop in price. When quality films with great artwork and finishes aren't selling out weeks after release, you know that the disappointing releases are going to stick around for long enough for a price drop. Personally, apart from one or two favourites and the Disney collections, I will be waiting for catalogue titles to drop below a tenner. Any extra spent obtaining ones that surprisingly sell out will be covered be the £5+ saving made on the 10s of other titles. Considering I'm the type of collector who will buy almost anything, it is not only a personal choice, but a necessary step with the number of releases being announced at the moment.

Likewise. The second they dropped their first exclusive to £7.99 I had a mass pre-order cull. I had literally ordered most of their exclusive titles which seems pretty stupid now, even though I'd used discount codes on all of them the savings were not really comparable to getting the film for over £5 less a few months later.

I have some of the Disney steels on order, but everything else will wait until it hits a nice discount. It just seems mental to do it any other way.

Thanks for the pics. There is one word which sums up this Steelbook; awful. I wouldn't wish a Steelbook release like this on the worst film ever made. Cheap and nasty is how I would describe it. The artwork isn't too bad, it had potential, but the front really needed a title. Why they edited out the title from artwork that was designed with and originally included the title I have no idea. More importantly though, it needed a quality finish. I think this might be the worst Steelbook Zavvi have released to date.

What kills this is the fact that the video transfer is quite bad... I could make do with the sub-par steelbook quality finish, but I do like the artwork. Its very unique.

I think this looks superb, very clean and the embossing just nails it. Best of the 4 I got yesterday (this, 12 Monkeys, Hobbit extended and the massively disappointing Pacific Rim).
