Received mine yesterday. Opened it up and it is free of any dents. The paint job doesn't seem to be the best though. I am happy with it though especially with all the people getting lemons I was happy that mine was mint!

Still kind of a blind buy for me as I never saw the remake version... will hopefully get round to watching it soon whereas the original version of this was very good!

I prefer this version. Bit darker and very slick. It's what you would expect from David Fincher. Rooney Mara is a better Lisbeth too in my opinion as she seems like she has a bit more vulnerability.

Mine has so many dents. To all the collectors out there, your gonna have to bite the bullett and open the packaging to inspect. Unfortunately all reported dents are behind the data card on the back.

Looks like this one is a poor show for HMV - I've previously had two steelbooks that I've had to send back (scratches rather than dents) out of maybe 50 - but with this release it's 2 out of 3 and they are big dents too!

Just hope they can replace them as these are for members here

Ant, are these dents on the front and visible bits ? Presume still in shrinkwrap.

Now taken all 8 I received out of boxes and only the one I took out of shrink had any thing wrong with it and that was hidden under a perfectly clean card. So it is going to be pot luck with anyone buying these to keep sealed, as the cards look fine no dents or marks whatsoever. (All mine were already spoken for so this was not trading btw)

Yes Dave - in both cases clearly visible - one was a buckle on the front where the hinge meets the cover - more than a dent it was that bad! The other is on the back where the cover meets the edge that opens up.

I have an unopened copy that seems fine, but won't be opening it as these are all for members here.

I only opened mine up yesterday & it's perfect (kind of) No dents, dings or damage to the shirinkwrap.

When I opened it, I noticed a couple of paint defects, faint black line running from left ednge to Roony Mara's nose. And a small black dot in the top, front left quarter.

although this ticks all the boxes, it doesn't feel as expensive as other SBs

I got mine today, no dents but I have to open it up to see if I am having any of the same problems others are.

Mine was in a thin cardborad box with no shrinkwrap so I was surprised if its condition
