Well, all steelbooks Warner released in Japan last year were G2, so this, along with other Warner steelbooks scheduled to be released in June, will be G2.

The weird thing is that the cover images of last year's steelbooks look like G1 although they are actually G2. Take a look at Batman Begins, The Matrix, Se7en, etc...

No there is no GB for that version, it very "old", but you can find here the US version (is a little bit different to ES):

Should japanese Steelbooks (of all steelbooks) not be one of the main contenders for group buys seeing as it's so expensive to order one at a time for international buyers? Wouldn't a lot of Ninjas (outside Japan) who only buy one copy benefit so much from a Japanese group buy? I never realised there was no group buys for Japanese steelies until Flip said it. Why is this?

Amazon JP limits you to 1 steel per order I think so its nearly impossible to do a GB. But from them other retailers, Im not sure why.

Yes, 1 steel limit on international orders but this does not apply to Japanese residents.

A group but could be arranged quite easily, we just haven't found a Japanese member who be willing to handle the logistics of it all.

I'm hoping one day we will though, because then we'd pretty much have the WHOLE WORLD under our thumb.

I added V for Vendetta to my order since I do not have the steel yet and it help offset the shipping. Think i am paying about $35 USD each which isn't too bad.
