Q: What is the collection manager?

It is an interface to maintain your collection - based on new technology.

Q: Where can I find the collection manager on the site?

Click either in the navbar or the user cp to access the full manager. An inquiry version is available to all members by simply clicking on the number of steelbooks in the user profile (postbit).


Q: Who helped on this project?

Q: Do you have a quick intro for the collection manager?

Why yes!

The icons on the top are...

"House / Home" -> Loads on first use of the application and shows all items in your collection.

"Binoculars" -> Find option - find items to add to your collection or wishlist

"List" -> Show all items in your collection / wishlist and let you manage your records

"User" -> Show different stats and other interesting info.


100% SUPPORTED BROWSERS:

Internet Explorer 8 though 11 (recommended)

Technical requirements:

Recent browser updates
Silverlight 5 run time (check your browser plugin section).
Clear your temporary files and cache before loading the Collection Manager for the first time.

The latest play.com (FOX) wave and the latest Alliance (canada) wave have been entered with art, so feel free to add them to your collection if you are looking for those!

You may have noticed that the Collection Application has been enhanced in two ways.

1) The edition type is now shown clearly on at the top of the panel when you are looking at items in your collection, or searching (or browsing others collections). You used to have to expand the panel to see if the item was a digibook or steelbook, etc.

2) There is a new filter option in both the drill down from the postbit (on your profile) as well as in the collection manager. You can now filter the items in the active view (my collection items or others collection items) by year, title, country or edition.

So if I want to filter by country, I would start typing "Germany". Or if I want to filter by year, I would start typing 2010. Edition type - Steelbook, Digibook, Metal Box, etc.

Hope you enjoy these enhancements - they are now live and able to use. If you don't see them, make sure to clear your browser cache to reload the applications.

For those of you that are picking up the Canadian (FS) editions of The Dark Knight and Batman Begins that release today, if you could provide cover scans of the front and back and upload them to the Collection Manager it would be very helpfull. We as well as quiet a few in the community here would be very grateful.

The quicker we can get the scans in then the quicker that we can add it to the dB and you can add them to your collection.

Also, can anyone help out with front and back scans for Future Shops Wrath of the Titans? The quicker you can upload scans of these and the ones in the previous post, the quicker they can be entered into the dB and you can enjoy them in the Collection Manager.

Andy, is it possible to increase the number of items you can view when searching for items or looking at your collection? At the moment I think you can only view a handful but can that be increased to say 20. Or a toggle as to how many can be viewed at once.

No worries Raj, sorry it took me a while to get back to you.

It's not a bad idea - I'll copy the post to our enhancement thread - won't be a while before I get to this - I'm hoping to have some time for a fall update with a couple new things for you guys to play with.

Don't quote me on that though.

Any idea when the Play exclusives of Serenity, Pitch Black and the Bourne Trilogy will be uploaded? If the delay is due to not being able to get scans, then I could maybe help out with these three. Only problem is I'm clueless when it comes to scanning steelbooks... I always seem to get glare.

The delay is definitely at the scan level.

I have a flat bed scanner and never have a problem with glare, so I'm unsure what your problem might be.

When you place the steelbook on the scanner glass you won't be able to close the lid so to cover the open glass areas just use a piece of printer paper folded in half to cover those areas and you shouldn't get glare back from the scan arm. Thanks for providing scans for us.

Well, I've just submitted scans for the exterior of each steelbook, but I couldn't for the life of me scan the interior without it glaring and going blurry, so I left those out... I hope that's ok?

Should we be scanning sealed or unsealed? I scanned The Thing unsealed so you could see the artwork cleanly, but looking at other listings a lot seem to be sealed. Is there any preference? I would prefer to see unsealed scans, but that's just me.

Most do sealed, but I'm kinda like you how I like to see unsealed.

I think what helps tho .... is like if you search True Grit for instance you do see an unsealed ... but u also see the sealed ones for many diff Countries so you can see the difference in regards to stickers, j-cards etc.

Also I know that for many scans that I contributed that if the front shows sealed ... when you see the back art pic ... I myself submit the back art in spread form so you also see the front. So there are many listings in there that may show a sealed front but when viewing the back pic you see front as well. fyi
