Q: What is the collection manager?

It is an interface to maintain your collection - based on new technology.

Q: What is the goal of the project?

To allow all members of HDN to view actual images / scans of the items that they are looking for or to get more information about any release that they might want.

Q: How do I get access to the collection manager?

Just post in the thread in the announcement / support section...

HERE!

Q: Where can I find the collection manager on the site?

Click either in the navbar or the user cp to access the full manager. An inquiry version is available to all members by simply clicking on the number of steelbooks in the user profile (postbit).

Q: Who helped on this project?

Well, a whole bunch of folks across multiple countries and they are all good members here (as well as staff members too).

Give them a big THANK YOU from all of us! We couldn't have done it without them! (in no particular order)

surfury
AcidCore
Ricker
Deuce
Pud1804
BluRayJunkie
ColombianLove
Darczap
justintime2k

And to all those members that have submitted images!

:thanks:

Q: Do you have a quick intro for the collection manager?

Why yes!

The icons on the top are...

"House / Home" -> Loads on first use of the application and shows all items in your collection.

"Binoculars" -> Find option - find items to add to your collection or wishlist

"List" -> Show all items in your collection / wishlist and let you manage your records

"User" -> Show different stats and other interesting info.

I've scanned and uploaded both sealed and unsealed but I think that sealed is better just because it still has all the stickers still on the SteelBook. The stickers can differentiate between what country is which.

We have so many that don't have scans that we'll take what we can get. If you have scans for an unsealed SteelBook go ahead and submit them but if later on we get other scans with them sealed we may or may not replace them depending on the quality of scans. We're always trying to make better and improve where we can. :)

Wreck beat me to it.

What browser are you using? It's not compatible with Firefox. You need to use either Google Chrome, MS Internet Explorer or Safari. Also right click on the page where it says Silverlight and then click the little Silverlight tab and tell me what version you have.

Well, I've just submitted scans for the exterior of each steelbook, but I couldn't for the life of me scan the interior without it glaring and going blurry, so I left those out... I hope that's ok?

That's fine, the reason it was blurry is because the picture has to be flat against the glass of the scanner and the inside pictures are raised inside the two shells that make up the steelbook.

I've found no way around that besides taking a direct photograph of the inside artwork and then opening the picture in Photoshop and crop out any outside area around the inside artwork. I'm not even sure if Andy wants that done or not. We'll have to wait for him to reply to this to find out.

In case anybody was curious that as far as the front and back artwork is concerned we only want scans, not photographs of them.

Thanks for submitting the scans Noodles. :D

PM apsmith21 and tell him your issue but I believe it has to do with corrupt fonts interacting with Silverlight. I as well as a couple of other people had that issue and I had to reinstall Windows to fix it.

I thought that may have been the problem... the glare also increased if I left the disc in for some reason lol.

I can always do as you suggested and take a photo of the interior then if need be. But yeah, I'll wait for Andy to comment on it first.

It's not a problem by the way... always happy to help HDN out! I just hope they're good enough to actually be used.

There good enough, not to worry. They should be in the Collection Manager by this evening but give it at least a day for the images to show up.

Also people:
If you find a listing that's missing you can report it HERE.
If your having issues getting the Collection Manager to work you can report it HERE.
If you find a entry that has inaccurate data you can report it HERE. These can also take some time to fix so it may take a while but they will eventually get fixed.

Thanks. :)

The collection manager has been updated.

All users now have the ability to see which "features" are on each collectible.

These features will show in a comma delimited list.

features1.jpg

You can filter on these features in the ninja view to see if there are any steelbooks that you would like to add to your collection.

features2.jpg

The ninja view will be available to toggle the following views in a future enhancement.

1) Items in your collection

2) Items to be added

BIG thanks to Acidcore for the entry and research on these features! :scat: It was a lot of work getting all this data compiled!

Kelly, put a post up so we can can thank you :D

As an aside there seems there is no satisfactory way that I have found of scanning the insides of Steelbooks and believe me I've tried. The main problem is the fact that the scanner's lens is geared up to focus on what is on the glass not what is anything up to half an inch away and it just don't work. There must be a way of doing by I'm bu**ered if I can find out how.
