Really liking the artwork on this one, shame its an awful film. This latest wave of Disneys steels are fantastic, can't wait to see what they do with Lion King and Tarzan.

If they chose two of these artworks as back and front artwork (or keep the current back artwork, which is pretty good), and then put a scene grab from the movie that would be amazing.

I see what they are doing here. The likes of Hunchback, Hercules and Mulan are getting these disgusting borders as they aren't very "classic" classics. And the likes of Aristocats, Pinocchio etc are getting quality treatment as they are TRUE classics.

If Hunchback was released in 1992 rather than 1996 it would have been a classic. As it is, the tone of the film was too different (despite the song numbers) from the others, so the release at the end of the 'Disney Renaissance' period makes it really stand out. Plus I guess Disney executives thought it was too dark for a Disney film, so they didn't bother to sell it like the others.

And my theory still stands including Robin Hood.

So what about that masterpiece of a film that is Planes?

This is the first art thats really not doing it for me, imo it looks like the artwork for a storybook made for infants, cheap.

Well, you could always bombard Zavvi with this link: http://www.johnalvinart.com/ProductionDetail.aspx?ProductionId=44

It might not work, but it has worked before!

Robin Hood suffers from a dire script and dire characters and is clearly a low point in the history of Disney and is considered by some animation historians a serious low point in post Walt Disney. Robin Hood is simply an incompetent film by Disney standards, flawed in far too many places to work for a young audience. It doesn't help that a lot of the animation cells themselves are sub-standard by any animation standards never mind disney. I suspect this was the straw that broke the camels back for the company to make sure such sloppy standards were never released on the public again. This is to Disney what the Twin Dilemma is to Dr Who.....
Blu-ray fans have complained it's a poor pressing but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear

:hilarious: That's funny because this is my favourite Disney film and I think Lion King and Tarzan are rubbish. I guess it proves certain movies tick different boxes for people.

It's true they used to recycle a lot of animation those days, as well as take a number of shortcuts with the process. While I wouldn't count Robin Hood among Disney's best, the film has its moments, and some of the animation is quite inspired. But it's easy to put down an entire film when there's so many films to choose from. I still would have been proud to be involved with a project like that.

As far as Disney classics go, how come Robin Hood, which according to some are just rubbish, get a better steelbook treatment than Aristocats, Hercules and The Hunchback of Notre Dame among others?

Really, you think that is beautiful?
I am sure that if you take the name away and you show that pics to someone 90% of them will have no idea what that pics represents.

I am happy with the artwork chosen by Zavvi.

Well, if you take the name away you're really going to piss people off. But who cares about the artwork, as long as it's got gloss finish and embossed title, right. At least the back art is pretty good.

people being unable to instantly recognise it does not, in anyway, detract from the beauty of it :)

Fan Artwork is not allowed by Disney on DVD OR Blu-ray Releases only licenced Disney Approved Artwork that's registered to Disney can be used and all product releases Artwork is decided by Disney
They have on some occasions allowed for Soundtrack CD Covers but very rare it takes months/years to get approved if its not original Artwork by Disney

Zavvi don't do any of the Artwork for the Disney Steelbooks that's done by Disney
