Fan Artwork is not allowed by Disney on DVD OR Blu-ray Releases only licenced Disney Approved Artwork that's registered to Disney can be used and all product releases Artwork is decided by Disney
They have on some occasions allowed for Soundtrack CD Covers but very rare it takes months/years to get approved if its not original Artwork by Disney

Zavvi don't do any of the Artwork for the Disney Steelbooks that's done by Disney

Well, John Alvin was comissioned by Disney to make poster art, so I don't know how that makes it fan art, unless Alvin was also a Disney fan.

Yes he did posters for film studios over 135
And 4 of them were for Disney Classics animated films

He did do art book called Disney Fine Art
That's different than offiical Film Posters

Have you seen any of his work that not a official Disney on any Disney DVD or Blu-ray

I've got his official Hunchback of Notre Dame film poster. There's a bunch of Disney steels out there using artwork that has never been used for home video releases in the past.

Those Disney Steelbooks are still using Disney Own Official Artwork created by Disney Artwork department

Even Blufans Disney Steelbooks are using official Disney Artwork
Disney create a lot of Artwork in the process of making their films
All artwork used on DVD/Blu-ray only use Disney own Artwork so far
They recently used new artwork on the Disney Villains releases

What you see on Film Posters is a different matter as they sometimes like having used John Alvin and others get film posters created but there not used for home media purpose unless they were done by a Disney Art Department

Its how Disney operate in terms of copyright and registered artwork created by Disney themselves as its their property

Disney will allow any Artwork that's official Disney Artwork to be used on Home Media DVD/Blu-ray but they don't always get creative with the amount of Artwork they have to use and often just re produce same as before but coming releases are changing in regards to this which is good change

I have a Soundtrack CD collection The Music of Disney A Legacy in Song came with a Disney Art book its fantastic

Even so, it doesn't change the fact that there's got to be a bunch of Disney artwork available that could have done this and other steels a lot better.

Also, which art department exactly? There's a bunch of different departments.

Nice artwork! I like that Zavvi is getting different colours for their Disney steels. They'll look good sitting on my shelves and will be easier to spot.

Looks very nice! Definitely will order this and The Aristocats. Really bizarre it STILL has not gone live. No response from Zavvi.
Disney Wishlist - Embossed Steelbook Slipcover - I know it is unlikely, but I'll dream anyway! :p

i watched this today! this has strong context going towards more adult than kid friendly, especially the Frollo character... worth to have even when the front art is not as great, after i finished watching this i saw the second part....really bad and the quality of the film is horrible compared to the original film....

IMHO zavvi have gotten greedy with these Disney titles... They use to be 14.99GBP AND 17GBP with roger Rabbit, Nightmare and Aladdin...

Now they are milking it with 19.99GBP and up in some cases like Frozen.

Sorry not biting...

I agree they have obviously gone up but Disney titles always hold more value than most other studios films and this is a steelbook which again add value.

I think this isn't bad value for 19.99 with the gloss finish, i think this is to normal now and that we were very lucky with other titles like Aladdin, WFRR that we got them at lower costs.

Im definitely in for this one.

They might have gone up to counter the fact that most people, with these Disney steels, use codes or points. I don't think I've paid full price for a single disney steel.

Keep in mind too they do not give special feature discs/ dvd's etc with these releases so you're paying a premium price and getting inferior product.

When FS/ BB used to release these we got everything, AND still the price was lower.

Disney US and Disney UK are two different things though. We're always shunted content-wise so that's not a fair comparison. It is also down to Disney, not Zavvi.

Still nothing? Rumour is that The Aristocats disney steel may go live any day. Hope that is the case for this one! I don't want to miss out on this one.
