If this is not as limited as most, and the same for The Little Mermaid, I wonder if Zavvi will have them in the Buy One Get One Free offer that Disney usually do before Christmas?

i highly doubt that

I agree with HH, they are treated like a premium release, so very doubtful you'll see these fall below their current retail price.

I've shed so many Zavvi pre-orders lately, the upcoming Disney steels are practically the only one's I have left (Salma being the only exception ;)).

I'm now firmly focusing on KimChidvd, blufans, HDzeta etc. Zavvi's stuff just does not excite me at all. I've been sucked into the sold out, instock, cycle too many times. I don't care anymore to be honest.

Allow me this cliche, but Zavvi's steels have more comebacks than Ol' Blue Eye's.

Why do people buy steelbooks only if they intend to sell out? Then in that case I think you're more of a trader than a collector.

Any way, I for one can't wait regardless if it sells out or not...wish I'd jumped on Pinocchio and Snow White back then...

I think many people cancelled this one because they hope that zavvi sits on huge stock and will overthink their prices;)
At least it's my reason and even if they won't reduce the price it seems to me that I can buy this one anytime for the current price:D

Cyber, I think people are overall accustomed to purchasing Steelbooks under the assumption that it is 'limited', and sometimes other Steelbooks have sold out before release date (though Steelbooks at other retailers do not sell out and are still purchased regularly). We've often become accustomed to hearing exactly what the print run is, but not all retailers are able to share that info publicly for all titles/studios. No confirmed print run has been posted amidsts all of this speculation in the thread, and many are making decisions based on assumptions, as often happens with the Steelbook hobby. Hoarders or resellers also often purchase a ton of quantity in advance, and then cancel for a variety of reasons, leaving some qty's open again for order. But either way, I am sure members will choose what is most important to them. I personally am looking forward to my own copy because I love the cover, and the movie. Print runs on Steelbooks are usually much less than the regular Amaray, and I am not purchasing mainstream Steels based on 'rarity', but based on having upgraded editions for some favorite films. But to each their own...

I have to admit I have started considering cancelling although not based on print run or price but purely because I think I prefer the artwork on the amaray. I'm beyond excited for TLM on steel but the modern style of the art on this one has niggled at me since its announcement. I will probably end up with both considering I haven't been able to brig myself to tap the cancel button this far!

I hope that wasn't directed at me. I only wrote the "sell out" part because if they ain't selling out any time soon, I will be able to order once I really want it.

And that is my 2nd reason for cancelling. Zavvi think they can up the price and printrun and earn some extra. **** no. They gotta appreciate their costmers and learn from their mistakes.
Since many people cancelled I'm sure they see what they've done wrong.

I paid $66 for little mermaid and jungle book (that includes shipping). That's $33 each for a Disney steelbook. Also any steelbook imported for that price is a good deal IMO.

However, to each his own.

Whether they're $33, or $28 after shipping, would rather pay a little of the premium price to have them sooner rather than later...

And I really wish I had started collecting Steelbooks sooner so I didn't have to miss out on the earlier Disney releases....now selling for $100+ SMH.

And thanks Digitalbabe for clarifying. Appreciate it!

No it wasn't. It's a point that has been brought up again and again on the forums so I was just wondering what motivates people to buy in the first place.

Any how, at work, will be chatting later on.

DB: Hope all is well!!!

I still have vecation so I'm good haha. :scat:

I usually pre-order the stuff I like and then cancel right before I don't want/need/can effort it. :)

So now when the release date is so close, and we don't have back or inside art, we aren't sure of the print run, the price is a little to much imo and Zavvi seems to get a little too comfortable at the top of the steelbook market.

I think that's pretty much sums up why I cancelled. And as I said I might order when it's release cause I do like it. But I ain't in a hurry so for now it's cancelled. :)

I wouldn't dream of canceling mine. Doesn't matter about print run, trade bait, or sell outs. It's all about the artwork and Disney Steelbooks have never let me down! :scat:

For me it's not even about that stuff. It's because these are the movies I grew up on!

I would never touch zavi from the beginning. But if they're gonna offer Disney steels at reasonable prices compared to the ones currently out. I'm in!

This is the first movie I'm buying that I currently can't watch! I did back down from two copies to 1. Oppo in my future, but I don't see this having longterm trade value.

Sure would be cool to see the artwork since we are 6 days away!
