It says in the wfrr thread that its embossed

People don't know/understand the difference between embossing and debossing:

Embossing creates a raised impression on stock – pushes the image above the level of the paper. Debossing is the reverse of embossing. Debossing creates a depressed impression on stock – pushes the image below the level of the paper.

So technically every steel (I know) is only debossed.

No, the frame is debossed. Technically it's the same. The front art really played into their hands.

Technically it's both. The framed rectangular pic in the center is debossed and then the characters in the center are embossed back upward to be flat with the rest of the front cover. That gray template pic shows it perfectly.

Funny seeing people get their knickers in a twist over an embossed framed border as if this is some sort of Zavvi invention. These "silly borders" have been around forever

This steelbook is an added bonus for me personally. I enjoy the Disney movies, and getting them on blu ray is fantastic. The steelbook looks really cool, but to be honest, I have to watch the pennies, so I wouldn't just buy something cause it had a nice steelbook, I have to enjoy the movie..... that must come first and foremost. To get this classic film is great with the added bonus of the steel which, to be honest, looks really cool.

Hunger Games D12

No mate, it also has a border. It's just round and not square.

Took a pic from Drum18 (hope you don't mind mate :D) and quickly drawed you the border.

Anyway, enough border taking from my part. I agree, that they should be more selective with the debossing. Some art works great, other doesn't. This picture frame border isn't everyone's cup of tea obviously.

I think we all know this is going to turn out just like Aladdin and I can't wait. Zavvi haters can say what they want but these Disney releases are absolutely top notch :scat:

I wish people would stop throwing around the word "hater" like that and trying to sully anybody who has the slightest negative thing to say about Zavvi. There is no conspiracy here...for the last time...we are all consumers who have paid out of our own pocket for these steelbooks. If there is something I do not like about it I have the right to talk about whatever criticisms i may have and share my views on these forums.

I do not hate Zavvi.

I love steelbooks, so for me Zavvi are the sex! However, as with play.com there are certain things occasionally that I may not like or agree with and because this is a forum full of passionate, like minded collectors I feel comfortable sharing my views in the knowledge that some people may find them interesting/useful. If you were to go through these topics and read my posts you would see that I have said more positive things about Zavvi's releases than negative. I absolutely 100% am certain of that.

We have differing views on what it means to be a hater, clearly. Zavvi are pulling some strings around here...I've never known a post being deleted simply because it's negative towards Zavvi. That's not right!

I've not known many trolls in my time here (they don't last very long), most of us are civil even when we don't agree. That's not the problem. The problem I have is being called a hater (directly or indirectly) just because I'm being honest.

For the record, these Disney steels are some of the absolute best in my collection. I love them! I just hope that we get a little bit more variation on the finish...like we did for RR.

This is not an article, I'm not making fun of the lengthy reply either, I just feel an urge to simply say

good read tbh, good read... +1

I don't have a problem with people expressing their views but there are a few individuals who only have negative things to say about Zavvi and come up with some pretty trivial arguments against them. I don't think it's possible to go into a single Zavvi related thread and not see a direct attack on them. I don't recall any other retailer getting the same kind of abuse. It's fine to moan about a damaged Steelbook or when you've been on the receiving end of some poor service, those are real issues, but take this thread for example. Lots of members have made unsubstantiated claims about the print run, price etc. when we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. I simply don't think that's right.

If Zavvi wants to sell steelbooks at 28,75€, they should think to limit the print to 1k-2k units, but I think it is more profitable 4k-5k limited prints at 18-20€, wich guarantee them to be followed by a huge group of always hungry of steel collectors
