Correct. The question or comment was whether Aladdin was a new release, which it isn't in the UK.

I can't help but feel that this is splitting hairs, somewhat. The steelbook is certainly intended to coincide with Aladdin's Blu-Ray debut, and was announced before the April 15th release of the amaray.

Yeah, I know what you mean. That could very well be right. Seems like we're going off topic at this point.

Back on topic, I'm loving the color on this one, and hoping there's some sort of special finish or embossing.

Right you are Captain. And actually, it was sold out before the amaray release. :hilarious:

Sorta makes it beyond obvious that it isn't a re-release, but whatever.

As for The Little Mermaid, I am really surprised it's not sold out yet, even with the higher print run. This and The Jungle Book are the 2 titles that dominated Wreck's poll about Disney steelbooks.

Not that if a steelbook doesn't sell out in the first week it's not selling well... because I guarantee Zavvi is getting boatloads of orders for this, but when Aladdin sold 5000 copies in 3 days or something, and Tron sold out very quickly too, I would have thought LM and JG would be all bought up by now, especially since they absolutely NAILED the front artwork on both. It might be the price Zavvi opened with. Not sure.

I'm shocked that this SteelBook is still listed! I would've thought that it would have sold out within the first two days! I'm sure Aladdin sold out more quickly, prompting an additional 1,000 units to be commissioned

Obviously The Little Mermaid isn't as popular as I had believed

Aladdin is more of a unisex movie where as TLM is a VERY girly/female orientated movie (and probably one of the reasons its my fave Disney - I was a 5/6 year old little girl when it was initially released so the main demographic the movie was aimed at), plus I reckon the inflated price has had an affect too.
Heck, even the Jungle Book - a much loved classic in the same vien as Aladdin - is still available and the only difference is the £5 price tag increase really

I'm a guy, and TLM is one of my favourite films, certainly my favourite Disney film. When the steelbook preorder went live, I knew of a few people that would be interested and all but one of them were guys too. I'm not saying your wrong, but don't underestimate the films appeal. It's pretty universal I'd say, it's a shame that the merchandise is so targeted at girls.

I dont doubt that the majority of people buying the steel will likely be male either (from experience, I've found media collectors to be a bit of a boys club :) ) so I promise you I'm not underestimating the appeal at all, but out of the 2, Aladdin is more for the guys and girls, just like Pinocchio is bit more of a boys movie so it would be naive to think that it wouldnt have a little impact on the sales.

You have to admit that generally, the 'princess' movies are aimed at the little girls and there are many other classics that cater more towards boys....but DIsney being DIsney do have huge mass/crossover appeal for anyone, boy/girl, child/adult :)

hoping they go for something creative on the back. something like this

IMO this would make a pretty cool, original back design.

I like that idea but think something like a rear shot of her on the iconic rock (part of your world reprise) would suit it better

NEWSFLASH!!

SAV7JUN - £7 off orders over £70 works on The Jungle Book and The Little Mermaid.

And for those trying to maximize savings per order, the following combo is as good as it gets:

(1) £22.99 steelbook (Jungle Book, Little Mermaid)
(1) £17.49 steelbook (Place Beyond the Pines)
(2) £14.99 steelbook (Princess Bride, Planet of the Apes, etc...)

That comes to £70.46, barely qualifying for £7 off, dropping the total to £63.46, plus £.99 for a total of £64.45.

Got this message from Facebook:

I have spoken with one of my colleagues in the buying department.
He has informed me that we are expecting an order of 10,000 for each of these two titles. Once these have gone we will not be ordering any more.
