Aladdin is not a re-release. It's brand new on blu ray for 2013 and has never been available on blu ray anywhere, and won't be available in the US on blu ray for quite a while still.

Because when Aladdin sold out people were willing to still pay £35+ for it on eBay and on forums.

This WILL sell out and will then go up in price, probably double, zavvi knows this and so people can pay £22.99 and not £40 from them.

If people are willing to pay for it then the prices from zavvi can and will go up.


(Or maybe the steelbook is going to have some simply amazing embossing )

I'm shocked that this SteelBook is still listed! I would've thought that it would have sold out within the first two days! I'm sure Aladdin sold out more quickly, prompting an additional 1,000 units to be commissioned

Obviously The Little Mermaid isn't as popular as I had believed

I think one of the reasons Aladdin sold out in 4 days was that it was the first Disney Classic (to use Disney's own term) Blu-Ray Steelbook release in the UK. I think a lot of collectors and fans didn't expect this to happen any time soon. Guess the shock effect gave it a real boost

Good point! This release has The Jungle Book alongside it, so people that are interested not only have the higher price to contend with but the choice of this classic or another classic, or both. I suppose there's only so much money people have towards collecting.

Correct. The question or comment was whether Aladdin was a new release, which it isn't in the UK.
