I just realized you probably meant the German edition was not released in the US without dubbing. Wasn't aware it was ever released in the US. I have the limited Japanese edition, but never watched the German cut on it. Not sure if it has forced dubbing/subtitles.
I personally wasn't ever aware there was a German extended cut. Until I read the synopsis of this physical release, that is. I've only ever seen (I believe anyways) the US release intended for theatres.

Curious what the extended 10-minutes, so I shall go of and research on the internet

So happy I've never seen this, never wanted to, and therefore won't 'need' to buy this.
Also, such a book-box from a studio in the 2000s would cost like 50 bucks.

P.S. Collectors in this thread be like:

OMG, how many kidneys will I have to sell, how many months live like an aspiring actor/screenwriter in LA (read: a smelly street vagrant, 'home challenged', 'temporary' without a registered address for the BlackRock mafia to exploit me), how many souls to sell, how many people to free from abominable slavery of earthly life, just to buy this awesome grail of a... box looking like a book in a library!

Same collectors in any Blufans/MantaLab thread:
ONE-CLICK of course! Easy peasy!

I can see you as having a set of gangsta SDR DVD-RW teeth @Lenny Nero.

The German cut is the original cut, released 3 months prior to US in 1985. Wolfgang Petersen worked with Spielberg to cut the movie for US theatrical release. Mostly lingering shots were cut but also some context and character understanding.

The Giorgio Morodor score and the Limahl song were added along the way for the US cut.

Wouldn't be the same without the US score and Limahl theme song. Adds a lot of magic to the film.

loved this film when i was a kid. for some reason, it was only when i watched it again as an adult that i realised how damn dark and depressing it a lot of the time!

I first saw it as an adult (and no I didn’t watch it with kids) and I thought it was fantastic. Hope this gets a U.S. release and ideally in a nice steel book and perhaps with the longer cut sans subtitles.
