Have you seen Blade Runner the final cut :naughty: there is plenty they can do, in this day and age transfers 30+ years old can be improved they just can't be bothered. How do we know what the transfer will be like, is anyone on the inside track? Awesome steelbook and awesome movie, so i'm happy.

Sony doesn't take shortcuts, even if technology is there to make things better there's only so much you can do with poorly shot films. You want a good example? Go check out Wild Things: Foursome! That is simply terrible.

I've been receiving titles straight from Sony for years now and one thing I know is that they do not take shortcuts with transfers, good or bad movies, they always have had a high standard in quality.

I watched The Raid two weeks ago on BD and thought the transfer was ok nothing great. I definitely have seen better and it could of been better, but I also can't help to wonder if the style chosen had a lot to do with the end result.

I've :ordered: this last night. Blind buy for me, but heard so much about it and I love these kind of films. Don't know how I missed it first time around :p

Just saw the movie this past weekend. Lives up to all the reviews and the hype. And to be honest, this is coming from someone who thought Dark Knight Rises was a bore. Don't hate.

Video was definitely grainy and soft: But bear in mind this whole movie was shot on a budget of $1 million. That covers production costs, cameras, actors salaries, crew salaries, accommodations, misc expenses etc etc.

Also it may have been the intention of the director for the movie to look that way since the whole setting is pretty gloomy.

Audio could've used more oomph. I thought so. We're spoiled with reference audio discs. That's ok, because those movies have budgets of $100+ million.

So to be honest, i have no real complaints.

Now to quote someone from Amazon:
$1 million can get you an hour and a half of one of the best action movies you'll ever see, or 52 seconds of Transformers 3, utter PG-13 garbage.

The plot is perfectly executed for the movie this is. All you need to know is setup right in the first 5 minutes. The who, the why and the what. Done. Don't care for the melodrama that can exist in some action movies, the long segments of getting to know a certain character. You can figure it out all here within the first five minutes. What type of person they are, what their past may have been like, what their ideals and ideologies probably are. We can deduce all that for ourselves.

That's all you need, and everything plays out like an episode of 24. Feels like real time turn of events. Incredible choreography and an amazing transition from gun fights scenes to full on martial arts.

One word: SENSATIONAL!!!!

and does the Steelbook look GORGEOUS!!! Can't wait.

Update on Audio:
I watched the movie first at my friend's home cinema (he has dual subs, def tech towers etc etc) and I thought some of the gun fire lacked a bit of low end frequency punch. I was wrong, I viewed it on my home theater again and the subs were rocking the place. I think my friend has his subs toned down a bit which is why I didn't feel them bass punching me in my chest. But I felt it at home.

I have dual Klipsch RW-12D

Hollywood, I beg you, leave the remaking of this movie alone. There is not a single actor in Hollywood, known, or unknown that is physically capable of doing what they do in this movie.

Ive not seen this film, but ive heard its supposed to be pretty good. And it doesnt hurt that it got some pretty awesome artwork.

I have been considering to get this, the artwork is just so attractive. Plus, I heard good reviews about the film. The only thing that would make it perfect for me would be debossed words. It's a shame that not many steels get debossed lettering anymore.

Only other possible negative is that the movie might be Region locked. Anyone have any final word? Looks like Momentum Pictures is releasing this and they've locked many of their releases.

Watched the movie again this weekend and boy do I love it even more after every viewing. It's true, it's not sensational, but I also think the film had one purpose and that was to be an over the top action film and nothing more.

The last action movie that made my jaw drop properly was Ong Bak, I'm hoping this will be the next one!

There is some really jaw dropping scenes in this movie. There is one scene with two guys versus another guy in a prison chamber that had me almost gasping for breath at the end.

Trying not to spoil but those who have seen the film will surely know which scene I am talking about.

I believe that's a lot of people's favorite scene. It truly was awesome :scat:
