not really man. let's say there were 300 left when it came back into stock. if they sell about 60 per day, it would still take 5 days to deplete the remaining stock. It just came back yesterday. I think we've gotten ourselves into an unrealistic mentality of steelbooks selling out. this, of all times in the history of the steelbook market, is the time with the MOST steelbooks being released ever, between Zavvi and Amazon and Walmart and Kimchi and Blufans and Taiwan releases, I am finding it incredibly challenging to keep up.

All these things have to be considered. If this sells out within a week from now, I'll be impressed by the continued demand, even after most of us Ninjas had already gotten our grubby hands on ours.

I guess so.. I was thinking more of the mentality like how quickly Aladdin & Commando soldout.

I think we (as the steelbook community), get ourselves into a panic because we know steels CAN sell out before release and obviously after release, so we try to get our order in as soon as possible.
I ordered this when it went live along with Tron and cancelled them both and I don't feel like I made a bad decision.

It's good that these are back up for those that want to get it though

At the time of writing there are 51 Rocketeer steelbooks for sale/auction on ebay.co.uk. Most of the 'buy it now' listings are over £20 (I didn't check postage costs).

I wonder why. After you pay ebay fees and paypal fees you can't make much money on a £20 sale. £1 maybe? Is it a case of people, seeing it go OOS, think they can make more money then find they've miscalculated the appeal?

I sort of feel sorry for them, but then I'm also a little amused that Zavvi have them back in stock (but do people check before they buy on ebay?).

Well as has already been said some would have come back into stock via cancellations. But would anyone really check to see if it had come back into stock after seeing it Sold out for weeks/months. I doubt it, unless you knew to check.

There is 1 seller at £19.99 and 2 sellers price £20
Rest are
Few at £21.99
Few at £23.99
Rest are at £24.95-£39.99

In coming weeks those prices will rise a lot

Let us know what you think, Matt. Personally, one of my fave superhero movies.

And a great soundtrack too! Yoiu will know where Horner was inspired to do Titanic. :)

By default, the perceived value of this will indeed rise soon enough. 4,000 is still a pretty low print run and I doubt any other retailer in any other country will ever make another Rocketeer steelbook. When it's truly sold out for good, that means all 4,000 will be in circulation. Soon enough, probably only about 5-10% might be kept sealed and traded/sold around. And every time someone unwraps one to watch it, that's one less that will ever be available as new/sealed.

All in all, even with a couple minor quibbles, this still looks like a really nice steelbook and I think it will only continue to look nicer and nicer as time goes on

5-10% ? are you serious ? i think around 50% are bought for resale purposes

and the demand for this movie cant be that high as its not rly popular..

But I said "Soon enough...". What happens when 50% that are bought for resale purposes are... resold? Those people who buy them... open them.

Soon enough, there are maybe 5-10% left sealed in circulation. And some collectors will keep several sealed for long term.

How often do you see an Alice in Wonderland Futureshop Ironpack now? They used to be available by the dozen for about $40-$45 USD.

And btw... The Rocketeer has a fan base. The 10-40 yr olds that saw this 20 years ago are now 30-60 years old with a lot more money.

Time will tell.

Does this have sort of black specs on the artwork? I have seen the same issue with my copy on some pictures but just wondered if anyone else had noticed.

what if those 50% will never sell, because the actual demand is lower ?

every movie has its fanbase, just that this movies fanbase is imho too low to make this steel really sought after
