Totally understand anyone wanting to buy it if they A. Missed out on a previous edition, or B. actually like it. I just wonder at the sheer madness on display from some people Paul: - "it's rubbish, I've ordered it"
I like it even though I already have the numbered Film Arena release
You do though get a lot of collectors who purchase a label releases all of them even with releases and films they don't like and some they not even seen so nothing surprises me in that regard

Look at plain archive or novamedia or kimchi and also film arena collection releases a lot of members just purchase every release they do regardless if they like them or not

I choose some releases to get and others I don't want but I do double or triple dip on some films and terminator is one where I get all if I can get at the time at retail price

Some collectors have favourite film they get every release that comes out even if they don't like what they see

I

can see where you are coming from, but if you are a collector, different things float people's boats mate, as a first edition from a premium line, I'm thinking, got to have it!!
By the way, I'm not only one to say negative things about it and then enter the GB. People collect for different reasons don't they?
That's cool. I can dig it.

Hell no, it was not directed at you, or any individual - lots of people have complained, then said they signed up. Utterly illogical behaviour.

I appreciate your honesty, I wonder at the logic of your decision.
Not sure what is hard to grasp really, I've said before, as a collector some people just want it, especially as it's the 1st edition of a premium line starting out. Completionists and all that

No silence from me mate, yes I've caved and gone for it, but I've been reasonably vocal about what I think about this release, it agree it's a cash cow, I agree it mediocre, I agree it's lacking and critisize when criticism is due, which I have, but for the FACing life of me, I just had to get it!!!

@Steelselecta The fact that you have openly criticized this release means that you don't fall within my definition of a fanboy, irrespective of your subsequent decision to join the GB. I appreciate your candour. There was certainly no expectation on my part that you or anyone else who had joined the GB should feel the need to justify your decision to do so.

My comment was in respect of those for whom FA can apparently do no wrong, who have been conspicuously silent on this subject, when one would have expected a flurry of the usual platitudes.

I totally agree its a money grab and while probably on par design wise with some other terminator it's much more costly. I signed up on the group buy but this is certainly not a great release to start with and really hope they realize their folly

Why do I get the feeling I'm being dug out here?
As an FYI- I don't have to justify why I, I say again, I, want to buy something. I will admit it was an impulse thing, I least I'm honest.
As with the backbone thing from you and @Basil , keep your opinions of people to yourself. Your opinion on a film or steel, go nuts, on other people, do one.

steelselecta the opinion was not directly at you it was for the masses, it would seem 'you' taken it aimed at you directly but was not, ever meant that way.

there are alot of people said don't like it then ordered it.
to me that did not compute but each to there own as they say is your money do with as you wish.

the point i was getting at which most people seemed to have missed by saying you dont like but will order it you simply say to BB/FA produce more of the same to my mind that means they would just produce more of the poor same at more overinflated prices and gradually watch people be outpriced because fa have already started jacking up prices idependence day as one prime example and bb will get nothing but confirmation they can produce poor products at vastly inflated prices.
people seem to have rose tinted glasses when comes to fa and bb imho, now alot of people won't like hearing that.
but mark my words this is the start of prices going thru the ceiling and as long as people pay they wont stop charging higher, how much clearer than that can i be.

hence the comment people should grow a backbone, if i don't like something i just vote with my feet and don't buy it.
I just wish people on here had will power too. but it would seem people are weak and i by that i mean generally.
but people do what people do, is it good given fa and bb confirmation charge what you like answer no.

anyway just hope im wrong otherwise people will be outpriced later on.

anyway all the best

We all collect for different reasons folks, be it for the movie itself, the artwork, a collection from a specific retailer, the goodies etc... No one should feel forced to justify their buying decisions.

Telling people that they need a backbone is uncalled for. They're not forced to, they choose to. Just like you can choose not to buy.

This is no different than those posting in the Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy PA thread that they found the movie to be boring but they'll get it because it's PA.

To each their own.

A first release in any new line has always great appeal for collectors. This is bound to be coveted, re-release or not. Enjoy your collections everyone.

Frankly Apollon, Neither Basil, I nor anyone else has asked or demanded that anyone 'justify' their decision to purchase.
We have simply said, more than once, and in diiiferent ways, that to condemn a release out of hand and then say, "Oh, but I'm going to order it anyway" is the height of: madness, stupidity, illogicality - you choose which you prefer.

Far better to say, I order ALL of (insert company name) releases, and leave it at that.

"A first release in any new line has always great appeal for collectors" try inserting If it is interesting, etc, and to SOME collectors, and you're getting close.

Oh, and I very very much doubt this release will be "coveted", certainly not once the euphoria has worn off.

Personally I can think of far better things to blow the money on than this unnecessaary, overhyped waste of space, time and effort.

Pity Karel and Martin - as if they haven't enough to do already!

General comment-whether someone buys an edition after saying they don't like it, is still their decision, and not for anyone else to judge, especially not in an aggressive or in a hostile manner. Disagreeing with this behavior in a respectful manner is fine, as there are many reasons people buy and don't buy-and that is each person's prerogative. Calling people names for THEIR OWN choices or badgering/condescending them is not. If you are not interested in an edition that is your choice, leave the thread if you have nothing but negativity to add-but please do not attempt to shame people in this or any other thread. Please refrain from insulting fellow members in this community-everyone comes here to enjoy their own type of collecting. Thanks.

Sad to say but it's just not a patch on the HDZeta release. Be interesting to see more photos but the steel on HDZeta was just a beaut!

I'm one of those that is going for this release too, I did say "I'll be back", :D I don't think I need to explain my reasons but this is one of my favorite movies of all time, a timeless classic. When it comes to true collectors of steelbooks, to each his own, the re-releases are appearing even sooner lately but always something else to move on to.
