I need all 3 of them, too!

I don't care what others say about this movie. I really liked it. 8/10 for me. For me, it has a lot of layers and leaves some parts open to interpretation, kind of like endings to The Shining and Sopranos (to name more famous ones). The less people liking it though, will give me a higher chance of getting a copy on pre-order day :)

I'm just glad they cut the alternative/extended ending

Thanks for sharing that. Pretty interesting to watch, although I can understand why they cut it.

i only watched once. Can't imagine if i watch multiple times. Would i love it more or hate it more?

Just curious, you watched it on netflix on some other "alternative" source? Maybe the subs was bad?
Watched it on Netflix
The subs would be the official subs.

Why is it so difficult to accept that some people found the movie crap without trying to find all sorts of excuses.

Furthermore I don't decide whether to like a movie based on a particular director/actor or their previous output. I judge a movie purely on its own merits.

I have no problem to accept that you tought it was bad (as you read in my previous posts) .
But you seem to have issues with people who like it, judging by how many times you post on this thread to tell how bad you think it is.

Finally got around to watching this.

I’m not sold on it. it started fine and had some great moments but I was getting very bored toward the end

Got the same feeling reading this thread

Now that said, nothing liking or not liking a movie, thanks for you input ! ;)

Show me which post criticizes people who liked this movie.
I will take every opportunity to criticise the movie

i meant that is seems difficult for you to understand people are liking it, since you keep on bashing the movie many times even after you made clear you didn't like it.
you will take any opportunity to criticise this movie ? Fine. Does it has to be in a place where most people are interested/liking it ? (the movie thread)
Then it is pure provocation.

On the contrary it seems difficult for some people to accept that others didn't like the movie
I have said nothing personal to any member.

And the viewing strategy seems to be watching it again and again until you fabricate some reason to absolutely"love" it

There you go. You're acting like a legit sped and embarrassing yourself fixating on this thread and suggesting people who like it need to invent reasons for doing so.. you're trolling because you didn't like a movie. Why focus so much of your time on things you don't like? Go hang out in a Spiderman thread or something and give people who can hold a conversation without insulting others peace.

I think where I had been looking forward to this for so long the wait killed it for me. And I love foreign films. Especially Korean film but this just didn’t do anything for me. i also love a long film, if I’m into it I don’t want it to end and the same for slow burners, if I’m entertained then it don’t seem slow to me but this just felt overly long.
But it did have some great moments

Also, after seeing the film, the slips do nothing for the film imo. Maybe the lenti but you only really see a quick shot of those flowers or whatever they are

Just gone back through this thread to read the spoilers and thoughts on the film as it was quite spoiler heavy in here and didn’t want to ruin the film. Plus wanted to read who liked it and who didn’t etc (although I will say it’s odd that people are offended that some didn’t like this and are jumping on a “oh because it’s not Hollywood horror” etc which is ridiculous, so many of us love deep well made phycological/ horrors from any country if it’s good.. But hey ho

Here's some thoughts to consider when you see it again

Next time you watch it, Try watching from the point of view that the woman is in fact the evil one and the Japanese shaman is a victim of rumors and hearsay as they try to lynch him for being an outsider and not understanding that his ritual was actually trying to cast the evil/possession out of the daughter and was interrupted by the shaman from the city before he was able to complete it and save her. The fun is in the amount of ways you can look at the events but I quite like this one because there's enough evidence to suggest it could be true.. for example if he had succeeded with his ritual in trying to resurrect the dead guy in the van why was he running around terrfied afterwards?

Also many times you see the woman in white, she's holding onto items of someone who has been killed/is going to be possessed.. you see her wearing the green jacket of the dead guy in the van, a cardigan from a girl who was killed and she also ends up holding onto the daughter's hairclip. Whether in possession or to cast it out, practioners need a personal item from the person they're going after. Another little detail I recall is the daughter having 'nightmares' where someone is banging on the door and trying to get in.. the father experiences what he thinks are nightmares too and wakes up in terror telling the 'dirty *****' to get away from him. You could read both as attempts at trying to possess them. As far as I recall the city shaman also at one oint is afraid because he realises he was targetting the wrong spirit. To that end the Japanese shaman doesn't actually seem to be a spirit since everyone in town and at the market place can see him wheras the the woman in white hides out in the woods and only reveals herself to certain people.

Not claiming this is the only real way to read the film of course but I like it because it makes the ending feel like you've been tricked into thinking you've figured it out.. which is really what the film is all about; who to trust and who's deceiving who

I actually stared to think a lot of this and view it this way at one point. I fully believe it can be interpreted this way

hmmm believe it or not, i was genuinely curious on why you hate it so much and thus trying to ask further

i mean this is no godfather level and i understand it's not everyone bottle of liquor

even if you can't appreciate the story, there's the cinematography aspect. although every man taste is different but general consensus (at imdb etc) wouldn't be that wrong, would it?

I get and accept it if people say i don't get this movie, i don't like it, it is just average etc but to say it is crap at every turn?

man either you are trolling / baiting or this movie is really good and it hits your inner demon (pun intended)

I have nothing against you personally and as I have said before that if you like the movie then good for you.
I am not insulting you for loving the movie.
So please don't go looking for non existent motives for me not liking this movie.
I don't like the movie because I think it's crap.
If someone comes to this thread in the hope of making a blind buy decision then it's important that they are presented both viewpoints.
You may not like my viewpoint but respect my right to express it ( repeatedly if necessary)
If you came onto a thread and hated on a movie I loved I wouldn't give a sh*t because that's your opinion and you are free to express it whenever and wherever you like.

Yeah I mean I thought I had the right timing but I just went to look at it thinking I’m still ahead of time but all versions say “out of stock”.......
