Had this movie on my Netflix watchlist for an age, haven’t got around to seeing it yet but it’s meant to be really great.

OK....just me then :dunno:. I just found it weird rather than scary, and it never really seemed to get going for me. A shame as I really wanted to like it and the trailer looked awesome.

Well, it does have some weirdness to it, but that's present in almost any South Korean film. It's just something they're accustomed to with their films. The horror in this film is rather horrifying, though, and I found that the story went in some rather shocking directions that I wasn't expecting.

Personally I thought it was garbage. And I am a horror fan ;).

Garbage? I mean from the cinematography, acting, and score alone it should be more than that. I'm a huge horror fan and it's one of my favorite films (non-horror included). Have you watched many Korean films before? They tend to be weird, darkly funny, and violent.

None of that matters to me if I'm getting bored halfway through. But then I also disliked The Witch so I guess I'm just not really a fan of slow-burn horrors. I'm glad you like it though

What kind of horror do you like? I loved The Witch...both are beautiful, masterful horror films.

Wow, thanks.

Never realised this was in Netflix. I'll check it out this weekend.

How would this movie compare to I Saw The Devil? I love that movie....

I love I Saw the Devil as well. This isn’t as action-packed or extreme, but equally well-shot and acted. The Wailing is funnier too.

Watched it over the weekend.

Its beautifully shot and the young daughter is a fantastic little actress. But even though I don't mind slow burners, I found this extremely slow to get to the point in parts. I feel like the film could have been about 35 mins shorter and still not impact on the film as a whole.

Also, the misplaced over the top 'humour' felt like it belonged in a different film and took me right out of it at times. But I understand this is a part of Korean films.

So I'll pass on this one.

Maybe I need to watch The Witch again, but I seem to remember most of the film is just people arguing in ye oldie English with very little to hold my interest. I like any horror that isn't overly long, overly weird or reliant on torture porn.
